I think I would have x-rays and blood work done. These symptoms do sound similar to pancreatitis (my Cricket had chronic pancreatitis). I think HGE also has the same type symptoms. |
If she is pooping, a full blockage is fairly unlikely. Probably should do xrays anyway though. She needs bloodwork and I would insist on it immediately, but that's just me and I'm not a vet. :) Tummy bug or not, blood should always be taken in these cases. |

Please keep us updated on Poppy. I'll be praying for her! |
Yeah, there is no reason to skip blood here. I wonder about HGE, etc. If vomiting a lot, xrays are taken here. Bloodwork is done for severe vomiting and/or diarrhea. My vet is not comfortable drugging an animal without ruling some major problems out. And if there is a lot of either vomiting or diarrhea, hospitalization is usually the best bet, esp. with small breeds. |
Thanks everyone. I will see how she is through the night, if she still has diarrhea in the morning i'm going to ask for my regular vet to do some blood work (I havn't been able to see my regular vet either yesterday or today because he has been busy with surgeries so I had to either wait for hours or see one of the other vets, as she really isn't well I didn't want to wait around. At the moment she is lying in bed with me, but she keeps changing the spot she wants to sleep in so I think she may be uncomfortable :( I'm just so worried and wish I knew what was wrong! |

I'll be thinking of you and Poppy tonight. Believe me, I know how frustrating it is. :( |
Rach she will be fine. She has a really strong momma. Keep your eye on her. |
Keeping Poppy in my prayer and sending good vibes.... Hoping she is feeling well very soon!! Keep us posted. |

But she is just so ill, she is not herself at all and is just moping around the place. If she is no better in the morning I am going to make an appointment with my regular vet and ask if there is anything else we can do (blood work/x-rays) to find out whats happening, I've been to the vets 3 times in the past 2 days (one being the emergency vet) and spent around £230 there but I know nothing! :( |
Thanks everyone :( |
I continue to keep Poppy in my thoughts. Sending my best wishes for her. |

I'm sorry. I really hope you get some answers soon. Believe me, I'm up to $1500 with Jackson's issues. Still a little uncertain about things as well *sigh* |

Vets are expensive arn't they? but we would all pay anything if it ment our babies would feel better. :( On a brighter note Poppy is MUCH better today! she has been running about and playing with her toys, she had scrambled egg for breakfast and almost ate all of it, and has had boiled chicken and rice today which she did very well with. So fingers crossed this carries out and she is better soon. She hasn't vomitted at all today but has not pooped, she has had her 6ml of keogel for today (which is suposed to make her poop more firm) do you think I should hold off on it until she poops because maybe it's making her constipated? thanks again for everyones concern! |
UPDATE: Poppy is so much better! thank goodness :) She hasn't been sick since Wednesday and has had normal poops today (no diarreah woohoo!) she is eating and drinking as normal, going for walks, running about and playing. I am SO happy!! |
Wonderful news! So glad she is feeling better! :) |
