So sorry that you are going through so much and hope things turn around quickly. Praying Princess is ok. |
I hope that Princess is now at the vet and that she is ok. |
We just got home from the vet, he saw us at 8:05. Thank God for him & my mom (who funded) & YT thoughts & prayers. It is pancreatitis he said more than likely from the pizza. He did not do bloodwork but said he would Friday if she's not eating tomorrow. He gave her an anti-nausea & antibiotic injection & sent her home with Biomox. He said no more people food & not to even switch kibble without consulting him. He told me to give her dry, plain oatmeal tomorrow-said it helps heal the intestines. Only water today, I've already filled up two bowls & she's drank some & dug up a lot but that's ok with me. As long as she's up & around she can do whatever she wants! Her temp was 102.6, she has zero abdominal pain, & she's lost 6 oz. since her vacc. June 3rd, I bet since yesterday. She's still a solid 8lbs. even & not bony at all. He said she wasn't dehydrated:confused: & as long as she drank today she'd be fine. I slept for about an hour and a half & when I woke up she was out of it. I opened her mouth to assess her gums & it was stuck. Her tongue was forward over her teeth. The scariest moment of my life, I completely panicked. Thank God this was 30 mins. before they opened. Thanks everyone, I'll keep you updated as the day progresses. |
I am so glad that Princess is going to be ok!! I have been worried about her all morning:( I hope you all get some rest today....((hugs)) |
What a relief! I'll continue sending good thoughts that she is feeling better soon. |
Just read through this entire thread. I am so glad that you got Princess in to see the vet first thing this morning and that she is going to be okay. We will be thinking of Princess today. |
I am so glad that she is going to be ok. I lived this same thing with one of the poodles. I just kept praying for ya'll this morning. Get some rest. |
Thanks, everybody. It was definitely a higher power than me that kept her through the night. Just had what I think was a good phone interview & saw that Princess peed on her pad. Hopefully we can sleep for an hour, then more follow up calls...then hopefully more sleep.;) |
Sounds like you are climbing back to the top of the mountain! Hope there is a new job to start next week with. |
oh I am so glad she is ok. I just started reading this and I just felt your pain.... I am sending prayers and good thoughts your way. Have faith, it will get better!!! |

I am happy to hear that Princess is ok. I do want to suggest to you that perhaps you do some lab studies on her in the near future if you have never done any in the past. I honestly don't have a clue how your vet diagnosed her without doing any lab work...pancreatitis is not diagnosed without lab studies to my knowledge...and the fact there was no discomfort makes this even more baffling. It very well could be pancreatitis and the treatment I guess would be the same; although fluids would be in order. I don't understand how her gums could be as sticky as you described and she is not dehydrated; but I am happy she is not! I am also a bit lost on the oatmeal...something I have never heard of but not saying it is not right. As I said, it is great that she is better. Just if she were mine, I would want to know for sure that all was ok. |
Yes! Now I'll pray that she continues to improve and that you get that job! |
I agree with Linda's post. ...and even if by some miracle she was not dehydrated (not at all convinced), fluids are still given if pancreatitis is suspected so that they don't have to drink. Even water by mouth is not recommended in cases of acute pancreatitis. Also, I'm not familiar with giving dry oatmeal to pancreatitis patients, so I can't comment on that only to say it is not standard of care. Pancreatitis can't be diagnosed by just an exam, esp. if there is no abdominal pain. It can only be strongly suspected. |
