Senior Yorkie Talker | ![]() Hi Guys, Just thought I'd update you on Lexi. For those who will read this thread for future reference, Lexi my 5 month old yorki was diagnosed with Gastritis and Pancreatitis on 23 June 2011. She was vomiting and would not eat so I took her to the vet and after blood work they diagnosed her. She was prescribed some medication for a week and was scheduled for a follow up blood test, which the results showed that her pancreas was still inflamed. The vet advised that they would see her again in 3 weeks at which time they would be in a better position to know how to treat her, if the inflammation did not go away on its own. She is no longer on medication and she is on a strict diet which seems to be working for her. She has also not vomited since she was seen by the vet and her stool is normal. I also consulted with the vet regarding treating her with natural remedies. They prescribed some probiotics and a tincture of Milk Thistle, Licorice and other combined herbs to aid with digestion, inflammation and to heal the liver. After researching the herbs I noted that the herbs are actually really good for pancreatitis. Food for thought for anyone that ever goes through this, Milk Thistle is also really good for protecting vital organs such as the kidneys and liver from vaccinations and heart worm preventatives. The herb also purifies and detoxifies the blood. The good thing about herbs vs meds is that they are a natural way of treatment and thus do not cause side affects. Lexi has only been on the herbs for 3 days but once she gets her check up in 3 weeks I will update you guys.
