Poor Max...and poor Mom. :( It is so upsetting not knowing what is going on. I hope his eyelid improves with the new drops. |
I meant to ask. What are the drops for? I mean what is he treating Max for? Is this a new medication or stronger version of something he has previously given? |

I was just saying how irritating eye problems can be for us and we are able to self help. These poor little guys depend on us so much and eye problems can be so frustrating to deal with. |

aww i'm sorry to hear this i will keep praying for Max's eye to heal fast. |
So far, so good on the new eye drops. The eyelid (the inside, not outside -- he has never had any outer swelling/redness -- the only reason I knew about the lid is I am a dedicated eye checker now) is nice and pink and the eye is clear white, not bloodshot. Could be that he had an irritation left over from the laser surgery. That is one of the indications for these eye drops. Eight more days of the drops and we go in for a re-check. The real tests will be time and a bath. If this doesn't work, Max will have to be sedated to go under the microscope for a closer examination of the inner eyelid. |
Is there any reason you are hesitant to go to a specialist? This has been going on for so long and I wonder how much his lil eye can take. Not to mention $$$$$. I avoid specialists because I don't particularly like a lot of them and prefer my general vet and I'm not dishing out extra $$ for nothing, but in this case it seems like maybe a specialist is needed? |
I'm not hesitant to go to a specialist. It's more a matter of I am confident/comfortable with our current vet, who is not a specialist, but he has had more training in eyes than most vets and he is a surgeon and worked trauma in the city for many years (he didn't tell me this, I read his bio). I went to this last appointment determined to request a consult, but seeing the thoroughness of the exam and talking to the doctor, I decided to wait. Labs are good, so no underlying health issue. Eye structure is good, no scarring. Tear production is good, pressure is good. If Max's eyelid is not perfect at the end of the 8 days, I will take him to the specialist and have them do the sedation and examination. |
I sure hope Max is feeling 100% soon. Sending good thoughts your way. |
