I am so glad to see that Chipper will be okay! My gosh, what an ordeal you all went through! I am scared of raccoons when I let Maddie out at night. I know they prowl around here and have thought of the possibility of them attacking Maddie. After reading this, I will be even more careful! What a sweetheart your little Chipper is to save Mini! Bless his heart! |
That is so saaaadddd!! I am sorry you had to go through something like that. How awful is that!! I understand why your husband was willing to kill the raccoon. Look at what he did to your baby. |
Damn, Racooon's. I am glad Chipper is going to be ok.. |
I am so glad your story had a happy ending. And thank you for sharing with us. It serves as a reminder that we must always be on guard. It is a crying shame that we cannot even let our own dogs out in the safety of their own back yard!!! |
Wow! Between the coyotes and the raccoons in suburbia we can never be too safe even when we have fences. That is a scary story!! i am so glad Chipper is going to be okay! He deserves to be spoon fed from now on from a silver bowl...poor heroic old man!! |
Wow! What a story! I am so glad all is going to be ok. Just think, good 'ol Chipper saved Mini AND the babies lives, since she is still feeding them. What a wild night you had. I dont blame you for keeping the doggie door closed, they can get outta there before you can open your eyes. |
Oh my ... I 'm so glad they are ok (if you can say that) I'm always worried with my little Petey and animals, but I was thinking more like a hawk or an owl.. Never really thought about a raccoon.. |
OMGosh, I am so glad they are OK, that is so scarey... Your husband and Chipper are truely hero's... |
Oh my how scared you must of been. Im so glad both your babies are ok. |
What an INTENSE event!!!! I found myself leaning closer and closer to the computer screen as I read it. Oh, poor little Chipper! I can only imagine your terror when you saw blood on him!! To tell the truth, I wasn't expecting an actual attack, never even heard of coons actually going and attacking peoples pets, just trying to eat their food. I'm sure the brave little guy is getting lots of extra lovin' right now. I'm sure your husband was ready to burst with fury! Sure hope Chipper heals without complication. You must be so proud of him. |
OH MY!!!! I was ready to cry with relief by the time I got to the end of your post! I could step right in and put myself in your shoes. I live in a populated subdivision in Houston. My husband gets up and walks at 5:00 AM and often when he's leaving my two yorkies wake up and want to go outside. I almost ALWAYS would open the back door and let them out because we have a privacy fenced in yard. Well, for whatever reason......that particular morning I turned on the outside light before letting them out and there stood a HUGE raccoon looking at me in the door!! Of course, they were wild to get at him, but I was frozen in terror (yes, I'm a wimp) and he ran away instantly. I just left them in the house and told them if they had to go that bad, they'd have to go on the floor! I waited till husband got home and it was daylight before I let them out! NOW, I don't dream of letting them out without turning on the light. We, also, have NO food outside, so I don't know what he was doing there.......it's scary! I'm so glad both of your yorkies are okay. Even your female is probably stressed to the max! I hope everyone on here is paying attention!!!!!!!!!! |
oh my god were you lucky thank god you both responded so quickly. What a brave little man you have protecting your little mama! I wish for your little man a speedy recovery with lots of doting and treats:) |
I sure hope he heals good and didn't get rabies. We had a barn cat that got in a fight with a coon and she won and killed the coon, but she was pretty beat up and had to be put down because she caught rabies from it. I think if that would of happen gun law or not I woulda shot it or beat it to death with the butt of the gun. |
Poor dog. Glad he will be okay though. Give him lots of treats and loving because he deserves it!!! In Pasadena, while walking my doggies late at night, I've had to keep my distance and wait for coyotes to walk away from me. My Yorkie is fearless and will bark, so I've had to distract him a bit so he doesn't realize that a coyote was about 30 feet away. Scary. I've always wondered if pepper spray will cause them to run away...(if I had to use it) |
WOW,, I often think of that, because we have tons of raccoons and skunks and Bailey charges anything and everything before I even see what it is, and he is always on a leash, but if they see something they go for it, they are not afraid of anything! Well Im glad everyone is ok.. and I hope ya catch the coon and relocate him,,maybe he got a scare too and won't be back, to mess with the CRAZY YORKIES! |
