Yes, I'm going to ask for that. I didn't get a vet visit the first time...the receptionist just simply handed me the medicine so I just left. I will be specifically asking for the cream this time. Teddy is eating yet again...and is holding everything down fine but I think I'll feel better going to the vet tomorrow to make sure everything is ok anyways and ask for the Goodwinol while I'm at it.

I would if I thought that was why he was ill. You might want to ask that question. Maybe it really is not from the ivermectin.

I wouldn't be opposed to using a vet that gives all vaccines at once if I thought they were an excellent clinician. Most vets do too many at once. They rarely see problems with it. And there are a lot of dog owners who don't want to come to the vet every two weeks to do them one at a time. One concern is, "Will client be back for the other vaccines we think their dog should have." As far as I know, all of my dogs' vets would give several at once. I chose them for other reasons.. Vaccines are a negotiable subject. So for whoever is not comfortable getting them at once, you can always ask that they be split up.

AAHA is a good standard. When in doubt, yes, an AAHA hospital should be chosen. But not all AAHA vets or vet offices are good. So still reason to be careful..

Could be the drug, maybe not. If for whatever reason this treatment is still not agreeing with him, I would say it's probably time to find a new one. I can tell you this is treatment of choice here for an adult (who is thought to need treatment) with demodex and most all dogs do okay with it, but they are all individuals and what works for one might not work for another.

Not sure when Teddy's last bloodwork was done, but if it wasn't recent, it's probably time to do some.

My vet gave Sunny D the Goodwinol because it was localized. He only had it around one eye just like Teddy.

What really upset me about the vet who gave Max every vacc possible in one visit, including bordetella down the nose, was that Max behaved perfectly enduring everything, including a nail trim, and then the vet roughly turned him on his back and grasped his snout to demonstrate to me how to show him who is in charge. :eek: That was his reward for behaving.

horrible.. poor sweet Max!! That vet has lost touch with the pups!

I went to the vet today and the vet thinks that whatever is wrong with Teddy has nothing to do with the ivectermin because symptoms should have arisen when he started taking the medicine a month ago and not now.

Teddy was given an x-ray to make sure he didn't have some sort of blockage. Previously, Teddy had swallowed something at daycare which he vomited for approximately two days (it was plastic like...they think it might have been a nylabone that was in the garbage but to this day I don't know what it was) and since I took Teddy to daycare recently I wanted to make sure that he didn't swallow something while not under my supervision. X-rays revealed that there was no blockage.

The vet just thinks that Teddy must have ate something that has upset him and might have caused some stomach ulcer? I don't know he didn't give me much of an explanation that I understood...but he gave me medicine so that Teddy doesn't throw up again. I asked him about changing his food and if that might have caused the GI upset and he said that if food was the problem he would have diarrhea...but since he doesn't have diarrhea then he doesn't think it's the food.

Furthermore, I asked about the pigmentation in his gums and he said that this was a normal process that occurs in dogs that are growing. He said that this was also not something that I should worry about. He also said that because Teddy is otherwise behaving normally that he doesn't think it is pancreatitis. If it were pancreatitis, he believes he would be experiencing other things like lethargy, loss of appetite, etc which none are occurring at this time...so he didn't think blood testing was necessary in this case.

My significant other made a comment today about how this is a part of being a "first time dog owner," insinuating that I am and have overreacted in the past. While I'm sure he means well because he's seen me spend over $500 in vet bills in the past month, I don't think I'm overreacting at all.

I went this morning to the vet because Teddy vomited again in the middle of the night. Also, I went to the same vet as usual because every other office I called was unable to to take me in today...and I didn't want to wait.

Thank you all for your help/time and advice. As always, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Oh yeah, and Teddy is 11lb 6oz....probably weighed a little more before throwing up...:D

Glad to hear you brought Teddy to the vet. I don't think you are overreacting and I am happy that Teddy has medicine that will help his tummy.
