mvd Hello, I am new in this log and would like to know if anyone have information on mvd/internal shunt. I just got the diagnosed back after a biopsy. If anyone have a yorkie with the same problem I would like to hear from you . Thanks |
Hello - I moved your posts from the other liver shunt thread so that you'd have your own thread for your kiddo. Thanks to kjc for mentioning you might need some add'l help :). There are so many people here who will be able to help you. Welcome to YT, and I'm glad you found us. All the best to you and your pup as you go forward. |
Hi, My Lucy has mild MVD. She is asymptomatic - as long as we don't allow too much protein or the wrong kind of protein into her diet. She is not on any kind of medications at this point. She will be 2 in August and was diagnosed before she was 6 months old. She walks; she plays; she does everything a normal dog would do. I was feeding her Natural Balance Vegetarian; she ate that for about a year and got tired of it. I now feed her Blue Buffalo Senior Version which is 18% protein. That may be too much protein for your dog ~ depending on the severity of their MVD. MVD is not a death sentence for most. You need someone who can work with you through this (a good vet); make diet recommendations and prescriptions if you need them. Please don't give up hope! |
