Personally I would have a problem with a vet who seemed as though they didn't want me to get a qualified second opinion. You can Google veterinary orthopedic surgeons and go from there. Please get a second opinion and/or a consult from a board certified surgeon. | Quote:

A definite second opinion directly from a surgeon is certainly advised here. |:thumbup:
I agree that a board certified vet is in order. I have had many pups over the years with LP. Many times when a knee is bothering them, a vet will put them on an anti inflammatory for a week or two to see if there is improvement, thus avoiding unnecessary surgery! If the knee does not improve on the anti inflammatory, then usually it is necessary to look further into the problem as sometimes they can have a torn ligament.
Any vet who refused to refer me to a specialist would not be vetting my pups. I do not allow any regular vets to do orthopedic surgery on my pups or my fosters.
Besides all of that, a second opinion is always a good idea!
Be sure to check out the ACVS website! :) |
