Old Carlo He may be one of the oldest Corso's in the county. He just got his blood test today, and will get a Chemo Pill on Wednesday. The past month he has really slowed down. He has lost some weight, not eating as much as before, and seems more anxious. He is not in pain, and doing good, but starting to worry about his age and the Chemo pills, and what they are doing to him. In a few weeks he will go in for an Ultrasound. He is a tough old guy, and we will do whatever is best for him. So far, his quality of life is good. |
Steve, I think of Carlo often. I will continue to keep him in thought and prayer. If there is one thing I am sure about, it is Carlo has the best parents and you all will always do what is best for him. :) |

As someone who has a few oldies in the house, I was afraid to read your post, but at the same time, want to hear about any seniors and how they are doing. I've been following Carlo's progress and am so glad to hear he is hanging in there. I truly hope he continues to live a quality life for a lot longer. Maybe the heat is getting to him? Or slowing him down? I hope that is the case. Carlo is one lucky big guy! I hope he holds the Corso Age Hall of Fame record! I've noticed with my oldies that we go along with me feeling amazed and blessed they are doing so well, then suddenly I look at them and think, "Wow, Gracie, Opal, Monty and Peanut are looking so old, or they are walking so much instead of trotting everywhere they go!" Like a reality check for me. Age is catching up to them. And it scares me. |
I too was a little afraid to read the thread. Then I thought, gee if you are a friend to steve you need to be there for him no matter if it is hard on you. I am so glad Carlo is ok and I truly hope he stays that way. I have one guy who is a bit older (8 years maybe) and compared to the yorkie he seams slow and tired. Aww.. it makes me sad but I know I am giving him the best I can and that makes me happy. I know you and your family are giving Carlo the best.... that makes him happy Take care |

How old is handsome Carlo now? He's such a lucky guy to have you and Marge, who've always given him the very best care there is. So many of us are crazy about this big guy....please give him an extra hug for us. |

He is a sweet ol fellow. He definitely has some great care takers who deserve credit for such a beautiful ol boy. Keeping Carlo in my thoughts in the coming months of treatments. |
It is hard to see them age. I know with the doggie alzheimer they get anxious so that may be contributing to Carlo's anxiety. Nikki has slowed down even more onthe past 2 weeks. Somedays he doesn't even get up to eat, I bring the food to him. I hope Carlo has many more good months ahead. |
Praying for Carlo an the family. It is very hard when a loving pet gets older. Before my Yorkies I had 2 Cairn terriers until the age of 14. |
The Vet just called with the results of all of his blood panels today. Excellent was the word she used. All internal organs doing great. He will be able to receive his once every 6 week CEENU Chemu Pill on Wednesday. The guy is amazing. Thank you for all the nice comments. I believe his goal is to be the oldest and Most Active Cane Corso ever. The Spice Boys seem to love him, and Maxine does tolerate him. A true gentle giant...unless it is a stranger or if he reads a situation as a threat. So far, he has always been right. You can almost hear the wheels spinning in his head as he is thinking. |
