| ![]() I have never heard of a Pet Expo that sold puppies. That is horrible. The one in this area is at the convention center and they have events like agility, water diving (don't know the real name), booths from various rescues, vendors selling clothes, etc. Must be two separate companies sponsoring. The Morning Star one is obviously giving the other one a bad name.

| ![]() I have never heard of a "pet expo" either but I guess the key would be who is sponsoring the event. Is it a group of rescue groups or a bunch of puppy mills and backyard breeders? Maybe enough pet stores have gone out of business so now the puppy mills are doing "expos." |

| ![]() We have Pet Expo's in West Palm Beach..they are wonderful fun. No selling puppies...but all rescues groups are welcome and the Humane Societies. Ventors sell everything dog related and a portions goes to rescue. Pet costume contests, talent contest, fashion show..and I might add my Becca was a hit.. Lots of free samples and most take their dogs in strollers and spend all day... |

Yorkie Talker | ![]() That's what I had in mind when I saw the advertisement. I envisioned a lot of booths with things for puppies you couldn't find else where. I originally went just to look. The breeder that was advertising it seemed reputable but when I got there it was not what I imagined. 3 breeders were there with maybe 10 puppies each. The advertising breeder didn't seem too bad, but I guess in retrospect, the one i bought from didn't look all that reputable. Oh well, at least I saved my puppies from whatever fate they may have had otherwise. I wouldn't mind finding out if others have had similar problems and maybe reporting them. |

| ![]() Any breeder that has ten puppies to sell at one time is doing express lane breeding. Yorkies are supposed to be small dogs and generally have small litters. I noticed on the online site of one breeder that they had several puppies and are expecting several more litters. I don't see that as responsible breeding. It is breeding to produce as many puppies as they can to sell for an overly inflated price. They are increasing genetic defects as well as not caring for the general health and welfare of the dogs and puppies. The whole thing is criminal and should be stopped. |

I am going to try to find the websites that I found at that time. They do call themselves Pet Expo...but ALL they do is sell puppies and birds. It is not a fun event like the large Pet Expos that are going on all over.

| ![]() OK...I went searching through some old emails. I had been sent information about what the person called a traveling puppy mill. She said they all seem to be linked together and that they have also changed their names a few times...I did find some dead links. I will just post a couple that are still there. What I saw here locally DID look just like that....a traveling mill. No way are reputable breeders going to sit with puppies in play pens and sell them on the spot to people off the streets. They have people standing on the highway holding up signs saying Puppies and Birds .. with arrows pointing to the civic center in that town. I have seen them there many times. Anyway....here are some links...one has a You Tube video of all of the pups for sale. Nauseating. Granny Grumps Pups - Updated: Sunday 5/8/2011 Welcome to Birds and Pets South Texas All Pet Expo - ? ? TOY PUPPY SALE ? ?*Saturday May 14th 10am-4pmONE DAY ONLY6527 Bandera Rd*ARRIVE EARLY FOR THE BEST SELECTION PUPPIES DO SELL OUT!!!Line Start- 9:30am* We Open @- 10:00amWE ARE*OFTEN IMITATED, BUT NEVER DUPLI This one they said is somehow linked to them: Just Your Pup - Home Here is a ripoff report about them: Just Your Pup - Justin Sullivan | Rip-off Report: 463324 There is a reference to this Justin Sullivan being the person who runs the Pet Expos. I don't know much about all of this nor do I have time to really research; but I DO know that what I saw was not good....people selling pups in such a manner should be ashamed.

| ![]() Those poor creatures. How can this be legal? Aren't there laws to protect animals anymore? Interesting they mentioned false shot records. I read somewhere else how easily they alter AKC registration papers as well. They use those registration papers as an excuse to charge outrageous prices. It's just sickening what they do to these animals. |

| ![]() I could not believe those links, ladyjane! You're right - traveling puppymill! I like the way the say "no puppymills allowed" - they must mean additional puppymills. All of those breeds, amazing! Well, now I know what a pet expo is! |

| ![]() I see what you mean. It is terrible they use the same name. The last one you posted seems like a very enjoyable day for pet owners to come learn more about microchipping, rescues, etc., plus pet supplies. I guess you have to read the info or flyer before you go. We've never had one in this area. There is going to be a "Yorkie Day" close to us in Reading, PA, end of June. That is run by a local yorkie rescue group. We are going to try to go; both of us really believe in the work that rescues do. |
