It could have been an old pill that she found in a crack or crevice. Maybe you should call Poison Control and see what they think. It's good she seems to be coming out of whatever is going on with her.

Yes, her eyes do not have that glossy far out look anymore. I thought at first she was blind. She seemed to not see anything and would walk right into something. She can now look at you...don't know if she sees me but she is not walking right into the wall anymore. She is still wobbly and loses balance and does still fall but not like it was.

Yes like something time released, probably why she is better now.

Have no idea about the background on this one, but it's very likely that if it were a toxin with these symptoms, it would show in blood quickly. Definitely best to repeat tomorrow though.

The steroid should control things overnight (theoretically). The neuro may not be in right now, and if the vets agree with your regular vet, they wouldn't call the neuro in tonight (generally).

But most specialty hospitals do have ERs. You could just take her there for monitoring until the neuro can see her.

Unless this is a really weird situation with the owner being questionable, my first thougth would still be something commonly seen in Yorkies.

From what I understood from the vet, the 2 injections that he gave her would cover her for the pills that they had, the plants and normal pesticides if she got into any of that. Since we did not know exactly what happened he wanted to treat her for any of those problems. He did not feel it was a liver shunt...which was the first thing I asked about. He said she would have started showing signs and not just full blown out problems. Hope this make sense and if I understood it correctly. I was just so mad and scared that I may not have understood.

We were told if anything changes to take her to the ER which is 5 minutes from my house. I have the vets cell phone and we have been in contact with each other since I left his office.

The owner is the mother of the lady who first had these puppies before I took over their care. I do NOT feel that the dog was harmed in any way. I do feel that she has eaten something since she turned so fast in the short time that she was gone. My husband is there now helping to find any clues as to what she could have gotten into. So far the only thing the can see is the plants, potpourri that she had in the entry window and if a pill was on the floor they have found no evidence of it or little pieces. They are now moving the entertainment center to see what is back there in case something was there that she got into.

Guessing the vet ruled out neurological distemper?

And even trauma could cause neuro issues. Sometimes there is just no answer, but hopefully the neurologist will get to the bottom of it.

To be honest I just don't know what all he has looked for or ruled out. I will find out tomorrow when we go in. I am making a list of all the info that I need to check on thanks to everyone here. I have NEVER had to deal with this before. She has had 2 full sets of shots and was supposed to get her 3rd one today but since she had problems that was put off.

Tammie keep me posted. I'll keep the prayers and good thoughts coming. If there is anything I can do call me. Just seems like it has been such a struggle to get them all this far then this. You are such a special mom. If anything needs to be done I know you'll do it!

Oh I hope she hasn't picked up anything off the floor.

This brings back so many unhappy memories for me. :cry:

She is drinking a lot of water right now. Well I say a lot, she will go and take a couple of laps every few minutes and then go and lay back down. Still stumbling. She did start to cry a few minutes ago. Did that a few times, got a drink and layed back down. Just don't know what is going on. Tried offering her food again and she did not want any but she did eat a lot not too long ago. Gums look fine. Long night ahead.

God bless little Faith Ann and protect her. Tammi I am so sorry to hear one of your little miracle babies is going through this. I am hoping it is something she ate and that it will not cause her any lasting problems. Sending you hugs and praying for your sweet little Faith. Best Wishes.
