Just wondering...did your vet mention to you anything about keeping your baby out of bright sunlight or bright room lighting? In addition to loud noises intensifying the pain, bright lighting should also be added to the list. The light penetrates through my eyes and feels like my eye sockets are on fire. My husband has installed "dimmers" on all of the lights in my house so that I can dim each room that I'm in at the time.

Yes this is correct. My Mother also has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. Her 1st clue that something was wrong was extreme pressure & pain in her head. My Mother has always suffered from headaches but they were never debilitating until the Hydrocephalus. From what the OP described , it sounds like her baby does have some discomfort/pain.

I didn't notice that - I probably missed it. I thought the pup was having difficulty with ambulation - which my mom has gait/coordination problems.

Sorry to hear your mother also has NPH, plus debilitating headaches on top of it...that must be very unpleasant to be sick with. Will keep her in our prayers. Hope there is a treatment that can give her some relief of her pain.

we are learning alot as we go he does not like to be any where that is loud or other people trying to pick him up he also gets very aggatated when the other dogs get near him while im feeding him ,as he only gets mushy food and it has to have a lot of extra water in it as he will not drink water at all im very protective over him i want to keep him safe as i can.thank u for all your input it is helping alot

Oh I should have finished that.She did get relief after Shunt Surgery, but for some reason in the Pacific NorthWest the darn thing readjusts itself so people here with shunts have to have them reset regularly. They have no explanation as to why this happens.:confused:

These symptoms all show discomfort. I hope they will put him on meds to help relieve his discomfort. With hydrocephalus , you can look up symptoms for humans & gat a hint as to what to look for as it's ALL the same. The diff is our babies can't talk to tell us what they feel but humans can.

Lol, nope I still have not figured how to add an Aviator pic & I've been here for 2 yrs so you know more than I do about that at this point.

well we are going to the vet today its getting worse i believe he now has a small lump on the left side of his neck i think that it is fluid as he is pawing at both sides of his head and seems to be in discomtfort through out the night .please think happy thoughts today as my little man needs them

This sounds like Chiari as it is a deformity at the base of the skull & the deformity does not allow the spinal fluid to flow freely in & out of the brain. It can cause spinal fluid to build in the brain and/or trap it before it enters ie. the neck area.
Also Chiari can & often cause discs to go out in the dogs neck. I think this baby needs an MRI & Spinal ASAP. Also the pawing at the neck is a Deff sign of Chiari.
