Pixie is limping on her front leg Pixie, who had LP surgery last year has been limping a little on her front right leg. I gave it a couple days to see if it stopped and it hasn't so off to the vet. The odd thing is, she will limp for a few minutes and then run like nothing is wrong the whole rest of the day. I am also getting blood work done as she has been a little more laid back than normal. Please keep her in your prayers. ALso, Nikki is having an off day with throwing up and diarrhea so he may be next to the vet. Thanks |
Both babies are in my prayers, Patti. If Pixie is only limping a bit at first, she may have just pulled a muscle that takes a minute for her to warm up. I hope that's all it is. And poor Nikki, I hate hearing that he's sick. Give them both some get well huggins for me. Bonny |
Prayers for your Pixie |
Sorry Pixie isn't feeling well. Hopefully it's something minor and she will be back to her normal self shortly. |
Did you check her paw for any cuts? Keeping them both on my T&P |
When it rains it pours. Hope you get a good report and nothing serious, and that both are feeling better. |
2 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone. Just as I was leaving for the vets with Pixie, Roxie had diarrhea! So they all got baths when I got home. Pixie has bicep tendonitis. My vet did a very thorough exam and gave her medcam. She also gave her a laser therapy treatment to reduce her inflammation and minimize pain. I had never heard of of but the vet gave me a brochure on it and it is pretty interesting. It says it is a holistic, non invasive way to treat and manage many conditions. She goes for another treatment Friday. Her blood work was perfect so I was glad to hear that. She also gave me some medicine for the others diarrhea. So hopefully they will all be better soon. I have attached a couple of pictures I took a few minutes ago of Pixie and Nikki snuggled up. Nikki usually won't share his spot. Thanks for the good thoughts. |
You sure have alot to deal with!! Hope you babies are feeling better soon!! Hugs to all!! |
She is such a doll. That's an interesting diagnosis. Can she have a full recovery? I'll have to google this as I haven't much of a clue what it is. |
What a cute picture of them together! I hope they all are better soon. |

Yes it is an inflammatory condition from what I understand that can be caused by a sudden movement the wrong way or a repetitive motion. Pixie spins in circles really fast whenever she gets excited, which is about 10 times a day so that may have caused it. I had never heard of it either. The vet said she had 7 cases of it since the first of the year, including her own Border Terrier. She said it can take awhile to resolve. |
Hope your crew all starts to feel better soon. Sounds like you've got your hands full right now. |
Thanks. AllDogBoots-- I just looked it up and it looks like it can be more serious than I thought. I am praying she doesn't need surgery. I am going to try and limit her crazy spinning and moon walking. Hopefully the medicine and laser treatments will work. |
Oh no! Poor babies! That treatment sounds like something I could benefit from (myself! Lol) It does take time, especially when the muscle/tendon is one that is used alot, as soon as one feels better, one does a little bit too much and it keeps getting reinjured. They look like mirror images sleeping... great pic. Sending prayers for them both, and they're always in my heart! |

Patti! What a lot of concerns you've had with your babies! I'm so glad that you took Pixie in and that she got meds and hopefully will feel better quickly. Now I'll have to google that too and see what it says. It couldn't hurt to keep Pixie quiet. I'm glad you have meds for the other dogs. It's bad enough when one has diarrhea, but 3 of them! Seeing the pictures just gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling! How sweet! *HUG* |
The pictures are of Pixie and Nikki are beyond adorable. :) Sending well wishes for your entire crew. I pray that Pixie's leg doesn't give her any more trouble. Spinning and moonwalking, lol, Pixie and my Teddy sound a lot alike. :p |
You can give her an epsom salt soak or you can soak a small towel in the sink in epsom salt & apply it to the area for a few mins a couple times a day just make sure if you use the towel method that you do not wring all the water out. |

Patti, have the upset tummies settled any? Sending more hugs and prayers for little Pixie and her leg. |

Pixie is been more active in the past 24 hours than I have ever seen her. I am going to limit her mobility. All of the others tummies have cleared up so far. Thanks for the concern. How many treatments did Buster get? Is he better now? |
Pixie had her second laser treatment this morning and may have one more next week depending on her progress. I have to give her the Medacam at bedtime otherwise she is too active during the day. All the others are doing great. |
So glad to hear she's doing so much better! :D |
Buster only had two treatments and we had limited his movements. But the favoring of his front leg led to more pressure on his back legs which caused his LP to get worse and we ended up having surgery for that. So with all the crate rest from the LP his front leg rested enough that the problem was resolved for the time being. But I did find out from the Ortho that he does have arthritis in both front legs so I try to keep him from leaping etc. The Ortho said the worst thing is running, quick starts and stops and turning especially on wood floors. I hope Pixie continues to improve. |
I just saw this thread. OM, three sick little yorkies - what a week for mom and 3 little ones! Glad to hear tummies are feeling better. Mom, you deserve a margarita for cinco de mayo!!! |
