OMG i swear!!! dog might be preg.
 

well i went on out of town for two days and at the time my dog was in heat, so i decided to leave her with a dog sitter, this place is a known canine place where they take care of your dog while your gone, its a legit buissness. well anyways today i was brushing my dogs coat and i noticed that her tits/breast whatever you call them in dogs where getting big and where poking out. this is my dogs first heat!!! she is way to young!!! i had left specific instructions to the sitters that my dog should not be allowed around other dogs because she was in heat, I was promised that she was going to stay in one of the outside kennels confined all to her self, its an area that they have where they put aggressive dogs that they cant haddle and it is not around other dogs and such well, she is only like 3 lbs and they think that the other dog must of been some chiwawa or a pug that they had there. what are signs of dog pregnancy and is there some way to stop her from having the dogs? my dog is about a 1 yr and 2 months and barely has gotten her first heat. i thinks its due to her size n weight.

P.S if you have nothing helpfull to say then dont say anything at all. i know i should have spayed her but we where hoping to get puppys sometime in the future not now.

If she were mine, I would get her to the vet ASAP. They should be able to tell you if she is pregnant for sure and eliminate the pregnancy. There are WAY to many unknowns for her to continue if she is pregnant, IMO.

Also, you say she is only 3lbs. Again, if she were mine, I would NOT put her life at risk to have puppies...ever. She is too small. She should be spayed and enjoyed as a pet.

Should you decide to breed later, find a dog of standard and a mentor to help you. :)

Sorry, but at 3 pounds, you should never have even been considering breeding her in the future. She's far too small to breed safely.


How long ago did you leave her with the pet sitters? If it's only been a few days, the vets can perform an emergency spay. If it's been longer than that (and it sounds like it might be since you say she is putting on weight) than there is nothing you can do about it now other than to take her to the vets and have her examined to see how many pups, how large they are and whether or not she is likely to need a c-section.

I agree with the previous posters. Only a vet can terminate the pregnancy. Good luck to you, hope your little dog is ok and all turns out well.

i plan to take her to the vet but its not open today since it is sunday, also i want her to abort the puppies but is that just as dangerous as her having the puppies via C section, i am extreamly pissed off that they couldnt follow simple instruction and the result is i have a mb pregnant dog! she is like 3 lb and both my females parents are a little over 5 lbs so i dont know why she hasnt grown any more. any help or advice please.

I am sorry for the decisions that await you. The vet is the best place for confirmation of pregnancy and termination. All the best to you and your baby...

I don't think there is much advice anyone can give you except your vet. Hopefully, you will be able to get in tomorrow.

As for parent's weight, that can give you an 'idea' but no guarantee. My girl is 11.5 lbs and healthy. Both her parents were under 7 lbs. She may not reach 5 lbs. You must also keep in mind that weight is not the only thing to consider when breeding.

If you are interested in breeding, maybe you can find a mentor breeder in your area to start learning from now. :) Good luck at the vet tomorrow, hopefully she is not pregnant. Keep us posted.

When did this mating take place? If it's just been a few days, it would be safer to spay your girl now, rather than risk complications in pregnancy and delivery of pups from an unknown sire. Spaying is the best option, as your girl should never be bred, because she is not likely to ever be of size for safe breeding.

You also have a male Yorkie who is not neutered. How can you be positive that he did not breed with her? Were they together at the dog sitter? Regardless of who the sire of this possibly pregnancy might be she needs to be spayed because of her size. It just would never be safe for her to have a litter of puppies. While you are at it you really should have your male neutered so that you do not have any more problems like this in the future.

The risk of letting a dog that tiny carry a litter of puppies (even if a c-section is planned) is FAR greater than doing the emergency spay now. Good luck with her:)

Well I know you don't want to hear the bad that can happen but I am going to tell you anyway.

I have been taking care of a little 4 lb girl who got pregnant at the hands of a irresponsible owner. She ended up having to have a c-section since she was not big enough to let the pups pass without problems. Since there was no idea when she was due we had to wait till the labor begin to have the c-section. That went just fine until later that day. Momma crashed about 12 hours after surgery. Just too much for her little body to handle. She was rushed to the ER Vet where she had to stay the night. She was given IV's, antibiotics and blood transfusion. Next day she got released to go to her vet where she got more antibiotics and IV done. Later that night which was day 2 she crashed again and had to be rushed again to the ER Vet. She had to stay the second night there and receive another blood transfusion, more antibiotics and IV's. It was found that now she had peritonitis which is an infection in the lining of the stomach. She was given less than a 20% chance of survival and had to have a 2nd surgery ASAP. Day 3 she got the surgery. Now..the outcome of her was great since she is still here today but the cost was over $6,000.00 to save her. Her 4 puppies had to be hand feed from the time they were born until they were eating puppy food on their own. The momma still has to have a 3rd surgery which she will be getting soon. Today I am proud to say that momma and all 4 10 week old puppies are doing great.

My questions to you are.....Is it worth it to let a little dog go through the risk of death to have puppies??? Do you have the money to cover what it will take to save her if she has problems. Are you prepared to be up all day and night for weeks just to make sure there are no problems???

I BEG you....if you have not already do so, please take her to the vet and let them check her. I don't believe in spaying a pregnant dog but if it will be better for her then I would do it. It is not worth it to watch them suffer because of her size and then lose her. If I would have known this little girl was pregnant before I met her, I would have had her spayed immediately. Every day I got to look into her eyes and see her pain that she went through. Just not worth it to me. Spay her and love her for the rest of her life!!!!

Since you do not know the size of the father, even a pregnancy could be dangerous from the things I have read about breeding/pregnancy/whelping so the emergency spay is probably the lesser risk. Then even after puppies are born, if she makes it that far, the mother can still die from other post-whelping ailments. My little female was only 3 lbs. when she was spayed and she came through just fine. Just be certain that you have picked a small breed vet who has a long history of spaying small breeds - you can get referrals through local Yorkie reputable breeders. The vet will advise you as to which is the lesser risk of all.

Amazing! The groomers, the daycare, etc. This month is full of pregnancy accidents and always someone else to blame. Must be spring in the air......

I am sure if sure if you speak with her vet he/she will have her seen in a timely mannor and have her properly spayed soon.
