Sadie I am taking Sadie to the vet as soon as my sister gets here. I went to take her out this morning and she can not walk on her right back leg. I felt all around it looking to see if maybe something was in her foot and nothing. She does not act like it is hurting her but I am not taking any chances. Please pray for my baby girl |
I hope she's alright... Will be thinking of you and Sadie today...Please let us know how it goes at the vet!♥ |
I hope Sadie is OK. Sending good thoughts to you both! |
Sadie has a torn ACL. Vet says not bad enough for surgery, she is on pain meds and they also put her on antibiotics for the loose stool. I brought her home, gave her a pain pill and now she is walking on it. Vet says it will take a couple of months to fully heal. |
I'm sorry sadie is having problems. praying that teh pain med's will help her. can you give pain med's while she is nursing? |

My suggestion is to take Sadie to a board certified orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion! A torn CCL in a pup can lead to severe arthritis if surgery is not done....at least that is my understanding. I don't know about "degrees" as the only torn CCLs I have had required surgery. You can find one in your area at: American College of Veterinary Surgeons Surgeons do not suggest surgery unless absolutely necessary....and the cost of an evaluation is not that much...and certainly warranted in such a case in my opinion. Good luck! |

Poor Sadie has had a tough time lately! Hope she gets better soon, sounds like you are a good mom to her. :) |
I am sorry to hear about Sadie's injury. If you trust your vet I would follow his/her recommendations, however I would do some research on the rimadyl and discuss alternative meds that would be safe for both Sadie and pups. |
I have used Rimadyl for orthopedic problems that required the use of an anti-inflammatory. Yes, there can be renal issues, but it is not as common as you might think. All meds have side effects. Of course you could speak with your vet about an alternative med such as Metacam, but Tramadol would not be a good substitute as it is only for pain control and does not have an anti-inflammatory effect. |

In other words, if med A is prescribed 95% of the time, it is likely to have a greater number of negative reports than med B prescribed 5% of the time. Admittedly, this vet is an advisor for the manufacturer. Max has been on Rimadyl 3 times for pain management with no problems. |
Sending healing wishes for Sadie. |
It says that rimadyl can cause kidney problems. I also seen where they have a class action law suit against pfizer, the makers of the drug. I have read a lot of stories where people have lost their dogs because of the use of this drug. I am going to call my vet and ask him if there is anything else he can give her because I am just a little scared. |
