Emergency Need Info for Michigan
 

Yorkie Parent delivering puppies, puppy still inside mother and fluid filled sac been outside mother forf over 2 hours and no contractions. Need nearest emergency vet to Richmond Michigan. Telephone me at 321 254 9765 asap so I can tell them where they can take their little momma

Wilson Veterinary Hospital of Romeo is probably the closest followed by Animal Emergency Hospital of Macomb. Animal Emergency Center of Rochester is very good.

They have had experience with the one on Gratiot Ave and it is not 24 /7 but she does know where they refer em to. She has all the listings but I was hoping to find one someone has actually used because she has gotten an ultrasound and X ray and the vet there just does not seem to have a clue. I am in FL and gave her my number and she put me on speaker phone to deliver the 2nd pup and now we are over 2 hours with no contractions and 3rd puppy inside with am sac bubbled out. She does not have Oxytoxin even though she asked the vet for anything she might need. She has tried to do the right thing and has read a lot. She has little faith in the Animal Ctr because of the expenses without good information and now not prepared and wants to take her to a reliable source. Thank you so much for responding. She is going to call the 24 hour clinics and tell them the situation and ask if she needs to bring her now, get oxytoxin, or whatever they advise. Again thanks. I will post results when we get through this. We have been on the phone for a good part of the day and she is doing a really good job for a first time furbaby parent. Formula, liver, all supplies and just everything! Later and Thanks....

If there is no change in the next 30 minutes, they request that she take her in and she is calling Rochester Am Em Ctr now to see if she gets the same advice because I told her that you said they were good. Thanks so much. It helps when you know that you are doing your best and are taking her to a credible and trusted vet and someone and it helps to know those others have used and trusted. Again, thanks and I will update at the conclusion of this puppy birth saga. I can tell you I have had some sort of (mostly non emergency) experience with all three places and they are all better than waiting it out at home...

If she could get to Rochester (a bit of a drive for her) in time, that would be a great choice.

does she have time to be calling all around and asking for verification on opinions? Does the mommy have time? What if they don't give her the same advice? What happens to little Yorkie mommy? So it has been over three hours and placenta is out but not baby? Is this correct? Not sure if I am reading it right. I hope she gets her in asap

Admittedly I know very little about puppy births, but I do think after 3 hours it is past time to be at the ER. She may need to go to Wilson because they are pretty close. In this case, I'd be leaving now.

I called her again and she is asking Rochester about the time and what is best. Again thanks, The 1st puppy is a female very healthy, the 2nd puppy was born still born (even so they cleared the mucus, rubbed him, did CPR and kept him warm for over an hour but he never had a heart beat. I hope mama and puppy 3 will be okay. I have advised her not to bred this female no matter that the vet gave her a good bill of health. This little lady has problems with contractions. She had to pull the other puppy out after the cord detached from the puppy and the shoulders and head were still inside and she could not get it out. Mama was not bleeding at all, the placenta was fine but mama did not have strong enough contractions and I instructed her on how to get a finger in above the head to get him out after dangling like that far too long with weak contractions.

She is going with what Rochester is telling her and taking her on in. They said by the time she gets there is all the time they think is reasonable to wait. She is already on her way now. I have delivered several like this and hate when you see this type of problem but I usually have oxytoxin and the em vet is 2 blocks form me. In MI, some vets are not as good as others and she just wants to make sure to get to the right one asap. I have actually been talking with my vet here in FL on her behalf tonight until they closed and even talked with him at home because the vets in there were not helpful and referring her elsewhere due to lateness. She has unofficially been using my vet tonight until it just became to late and she needed to find one there and take her in. She was going where she was referred and I said let me get on YT and see if someone has first hand experience with the Vets in and around Richmond, MI. Instantly Ellie Mae responded and we jumped on her suggestion. Now we just have to wait and let the Vet take it from here. I will update as soon as I hear. Thanks for your concern and response. Mary

I have been talking to my vet until 2 hours ago, she was at 1 hour then
 

She was leaving when I last called and had talked with Rochester and was doing what they said to do. I am out of contact and I forgot to ask if they said to go to Rochester or what. I assume since she talked with them, that is where she went. I do not have another number for her because I was too busy getting info and did not even think of that. I will have to wait until they get back home tonight. Thanks for your concern and support. Mary

This is (generally speaking) where I would go in an emergency. They should do just fine with her. I can't say it's cheap though.....

Evaluation was made with this situation and the condition of mama. She only spent 15 minutes calling and then left. She followed what 2 vets advised her to do and the guidelines of my vet here in FL based on what was known and he would not get involved just gave me a guideline for the scenario and conditions in that situation. Her heart is with her little baby
 

and all she cares about is doing this right and safe for mama and puppies. She planned ahead in case of em. I would do the same except dollars are scarce my way but I would find a way too. What we do for these little dolls of ours.. They are worth it and we took them on and they look to us to provide their care and so we must even if it hurts the pocket book real bad.
