I think it's way smaller than that, she was promised it would be no more than 3lbs at adulthood. |
I think so too nana911. She said in another post that he is 10 weeks old and looks like a chihuahua and was asking when he would start looking like a yorkie. Since she was told the pup would be 3 pounds at adulthood, I think it is safe to assume (even though I don't like to assume much of anything) that he is considerably less than 3 pounds now. This makes getting immediate VET help is even more important. I agree that calling a breeder a BYB, in the negative connotation that it has taken on, is serious. But she may have a point. She is not calling her that JUST because the puppy was sick. She said the breeder will not return phone calls. The breeder also let the pup go home before it was 12 weeks old, and since he got sick immediately, it makes me wonder about a vet check before placing the puppy. That doesn't prevent them from getting sick, but it should catch a great deal. I don't know enough about the whole situation -- we don't know how large the pup is, what sort of guarantee did the breeder give, what instructions did she give, did she tell the owner to take to the ER vet? I would have. But I also would not have let the pup go before 10 weeks old. Not getting a GOOD picture of the breeder but need to know more. I do not think the food is the problem either. I also feed Royal Canin to new puppies starting at 4 weeks -- I love the tiny triangular kibble that helps prevent choking when they first try food. They ALL seem to love the taste and I believe it gets a bad rap on YT. It is a nutritionally balanced food, better than many. My experience is also tiny firm tootsie roll poops, so nice & easy to pick up. Some of the higher quality foods can cause problems for being too high in protein and other things. All of the Royal Canin kibbles are not the same. If an owner is concerned about corn, there are formulas without it. Most of all I hope the owner has not been back on because she is off at the vet with this little one and getting him the help he needs. This is one of those situations that can turn from bad to absolutely horrible in a matter of minutes. Praying this little yorkie is on the way back up and recovery will be soon! |
I hope this little one is ok this morning. |
Checking for an update. I hope the OP got the puppy to the vet last night. Plenty of time to deal with the breeder later on when the crisis is over. |
Would love to hear an update! Hope that little one got to a vet ASAP lastnight!! |
I know this is harsh... a furbaby is like a skin baby...small ones can die from dehydration fast.. Please let us know the baby is ok. |
Just checking to see of she came back on with an update. My heart is just breaking for that little one. |

What happend to this puppy????????????????? |
Just checking in for an update, I hope the little precious is ok. |
I heard from the OP. She did go out and buy the Nutrical, and she said she was taking him to the Vet this morning. So, most likely, they are at the Vets. Sheila |

I'm glad that the pup is being taken to the vet, many things can be attributed to vomitting and diarreah; parasites, coccidia, giardia, all which need vet attention. What should have been suggested is to put this pup on a bland diet.....kibbles taken away. Steamed, bonless, skinless chicken with steamed rice. and a probiotic all which assist in keeping any irritation to the digestive track down. |
You've gotten lots of good advice, puppies go down hill fast I hope you've taken him to the vet, and let us know how he's doing. |

First, I want to say I hope the pup is doing ok. But more than that I want to say I am proud to be a member of a group like this. There is always someone who steps up to help anyone who is in need of advice. No matter what time of night and all genuinely care. It is one of the many reasons I love this group. Hope to hear of how the little one is doing. |
My pup had a bout of diarrhea a few weeks ago. I was worried because I thought I saw blood, so off to the vet we went. He acted perfectly fine except for the diarrhea. He was tested for Parvo, and his stool was sent out too and everything came back fine. Still don't know what it was. The vet bill was $180 but worth it for the peace of mind it gave me to know he was okay. I took him on a trip over the weekend and he had diarrhea again all weekend. I didn't worry as much because he had just been checked out. He was also eating, drinking and playing like normal. As soon as he got home he was fine, so I think he was just nervous. I hope this pup made it to the vet. |
I hope everything is ok. This site can be such a great thing for a new Yorkie owner, or any dog for that matter. I didn't know about it until after my 2 boys were 2 and 3, and Darcy came to live with us. I remember being in a panic when Baxter (#1) got Kennel cough. He was so lethargic, it scared me to death. I knew about the ER vet because I took him to his first check up within 24 hours of bringing him home. That should be on a sticky, I am sure it is on every pet contract: Take your new puppy to the vet immediately/ASAP for a check up. If it is a Monday -Sat, take them to the vet before you ever go home!!! Once you have a vet established, they should familiarize you with what to do in afer hours emergency situatuations. Mine did. |
First, and most importantly, I hope the pup is ok. These little ones go down hill so fast that it's scary. Everyone should know where their nearest ER vet is located. If you haven't already done so, go find out right now and put the phone # and address in to your phone or program the address in to your car's GPS. You never know when you are going to need it. But it can't be reiterated enough, just because someone is a YT member does NOT automatically make them a good or trustworthy breeder. They need to be evaluated just as thoroughly as any other breeder. |

I haven't heard any thing more, so I hope she is at the Vet with the little one. She was in contact with her Breeder, as well. I was hoping for an update by now. Hope the puppy is ok. |

I hope the OP can update us with good news soon. |

Oh, dear. And she is already asking when she can get another one? |
I would be scared to death that I would be unable to eradicate all traces of Parvo from every nook and cranny. I'd wait it out instead. No way I'd bring another dog in before 6-12 months were up. |
please let us know... what happened to that little puppy? I had also recently a baby puppy already sick when i got him with diarrhea and vomiting, sleeping all time, not playing... they really get quick dehydrated !! If he is that tiny and out of mood he needs sugar in blood.. and to be checked by the vet .. please let us know what happened... people posting here really care about you and your puppy.. praying for the best for your little baby.. |

Everyone that gets a new puppy especially when they are not experianced with things should have a plan ready for any emergency as these little ones can go down hill quick. Heck If you don't drive have cab money set aside in your puppy kit |
I'm very sorry for your loss... |
I am very sorry for the loss of your puppy. However, would it be possible to tell us who the breeder was so that this doesn't happen to someone else here? |
