This is not your fault at all! And I don't think you are overboard at all. We all feel that way about our babies here. :)

I have a high bed that Rosie fell off of right after we had her fixed. Needless to say I bought stairs. It was the best $40 I ever spent. She flies up and down them now and I don't have to worry. You might look into stairs. They gave me peace of mind.

If I were you I'd insist upon x-rays just to be sure and keep your pup off the foot as much as possible and get a Rx for some doggie pain meds.

Though we can't be certain, we believe our little girl pup fell off the couch...we too rushed her to the ER...they thoroughly x-rayed her, found nothing wrong, no underlying joint issues in either her knees, hips, ankle, feet (they were concerned with the possibility of a break in the growth plate)...they listed it as a "soft tissue injury" thinking maybe she got her foot caught in the xpen and then once let out went to jump on the couch and fell back and twisted her sore foot backwards, they sent her x-rays to a radiologist and then we had a follow with another vet and still can't find anything wrong with her...but she is still limping, on pain meds and a anti-flammatory with her activities restricted (if she isn't going potty or eating it's hold her or keep her in a small crate) for three weeks now. They "said" due to being a puppy once she hurt her foot and found it painful to walk on she may baby it for much longer as she "assumes" it will hurt if she steps on it, so now were just playing the waiting game...but I'm beginning to get concerned. She walk on it briefly and then holds it up. She's also feeling rejected at being contained so much. But she's so small and delicate I just don't know what else we can do for her. Doc says she's healthy as can be...so apparently these things can happen.

Well the verdict is in...Bruce is a diva! Our regular vet took x-rays and found nothing. Still not satisfied I took him to the orthopedist that repaired his LP to make sure all was well...He found nothing either. They all concurred that Bruce probably had a bruise and noticed how I fawned over him so was just repeating the behavior for attention given we now have an extra person in the home that gets my attention...This little guy, I tell you, he makes me nuts!

SO happy to hear that Bruce is doing well! :)

:)Chip jumped off the couch once and started limping on his right front paw. He would cry out in pain if I put him down or if any other puppies came around us, so I took him to the er. They felt of his legs and were about to do X rays until the Vet gave him treats and he stoped limping totally to get them, then after a few min. must have realized he was suspose to be hurt and started limping again, but this time he was holdin his **Left Paw** up.

He is a total diva too;)

Just catching up, so glad that all is well. These little boogers sure know how to get us all riled up, don't they. lol Give him lots of extra hugs and kisses. :)

I'm just seeing this thread, and I'm so happy that Bruce is ok! These little ones are so smart....they know exactly how to wrap us around their paws. :)

Hahaha...Vinnie did the EXACT same thing a couple of years ago. I was at a friend's house and Vinnie was on their (very high) bed. He went to jump off and landed funny, hurting his elbow. The next day, he would barely walk at all. I was sure something was broken. I immediately took him to the vet's office and she too, by looking at him, assumed he had a break somewhere. He would not put a single ounce of pressure on his front leg and was whimpering in pain. So, they did a ton of x-rays and found...nothing.

Here's the weird part - once they did the x-rays and we all calmed down, clearly seeing that his leg was fine, Vinnie walked right out of the vet's office. He limped a bit and we did have to ice his elbow for a couple of days, but he didn't do any of the drama-ridden refusing to walk. TOTAL diva.

LOL, so glad Bruce is okay, and how refreshing to read about someone who will take them to the vet just to be sure, so many people we have to BEG to take their dogs in.
