It concerns me that some people try to use this forum as a means of avoiding going to a vet for a sick pet.....we are not vets and while all the valuable information that is available on here, I think most of the people that take the time to give suggestions and/or advice mean it to be concurrent or in sync with vet care and not "in lieu of". There have actually been posters that become irrate and beligerant because experienced people on this site have actually told them to get their pup to a vet immediately....they were not looking for THAT, they were looking for people to direct them in diagnosing and then treating medical issues on nothing more than a list of often vague symptoms or observations. We are not here to enable or encourage people with sick pups, to skip vet visits! While the majority of posters seem to be aware of this, there also seems to be in increase in people that medicate their own dogs with OTC meds, for an undiagnosed illness that could turn out to be a severe neurological issue and not ear mites or allergies. Please, if your pup is sick, have a vet look at and diagnose your pup....then come tell us all about it and there are probably many people on here that have gone thru the same thing and can share with you how best to manage your pup's illness and vet prescribed treatment plan. |
