That's really good news. Stick with the new vet.:) |
Congrats on there not being a break. I bet you are relieved. The only thing I would question is they tylenol for pain. I was under the impression that acetaminophen was toxic to dogs. |
I did not catch that. I have never heard of a vet prescribing Tylenol. It is toxic to dogs. :( |

Could vet have maybe said Children's Benadryl? Benadryl isn't really for pain, but it can sedate a dog a bit, which can help the dog deal with the pain until further meds are given, at the vet's office. Quote:

<3 you guys!!! I guess I probably heard wrong. I haven't given her any medication so that's good at least. What could I use then? |
ok I'm with banfield too and had to have xrays for Soph but it was only $75 per shot. were they going to sedate your baby for the xrays? maybe that is why they were charging so much. when mine were done they didn't have to sedate her so I only had to pay for the films. anyways, glad to hear such good news. and go with regular baby aspirin, definitely NOT tylenol. my vet said half a baby aspirin is an ok dose for an approx 5-5 1/2 lb dog. |
Yeah they wanted to sedate her -.- which I didn't want her to get drugged up anyway. I have the puppy petplan for all her shots and such. Sucks they're so damn expensive! At least now I'll have an alternate, more personal, and considerate vet. She's 2.9lbs right now so I will give her a little less than half. |

I would say call your vet for the proper dosage |

As already mentioned - DO NOT GIVE HER TYLENOL! Are you sure he didn't say give her Baby Aspirin? Low dose aspirin can be safely given to dogs. Here's a list of OTC meds that can be given. OTC Medications |

It is so overwhelming when we take our little ones to the doctor, and when you are so worried at the same time, I things are often missed. I found myself forgetting to ask important questions especially since emotions are strong when our babies are sick that I started to have to write certain things down behorehand and during a visit to be sure. I didn't know about Tylenol being toxic with my first Yorkie. I bought several books relating to health with my three girls, and now with the wealth of information with the internet, I am learning that much more. I am constantly learning even more valuable information on YorkieTalk. I'm sure the vet meant baby aspirin, but I'd call to check on the dosage to be sure. I hope your little one is back to herself very quickly and that you are able to rest easier, too. |
I will call him and ask the suggested dosage. Thank you everyone soooo much! Quote:
