More Eye Problems for Max Max had a significant corneal ulcer a couple of weeks ago. After a week of antibiotics and a follow-up exam, the vet thought his eye had healed. Yesterday, the eye had yellowish/greenish discharge, so we are headed back to vet again today. Since this all started, I have been keeping the eye area clean and not allowing Max to play fetch or to wrestle with his brother. However, I think I made a mistake this week allowing him to run around our backyard and romp in the leaves. :( |
Good Luck at the vet! |
Hopefully it is just some residual eye goo.... |
I hope it's not infection. Could he wear some goggles so he could enjoy the outdoors a little? |
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. My stress over this shows in my typing of the title of this thread. Ugh. Quote:

:( I hope it is nothing serious also. |
Chances are it didn't completely heal. The odds of him getting another corneal ulcer in the same eye so quickly are pretty slim. Let us know what the vet says. |
We are back from the vet. Max has another scratch in his cornea. Same protocol as last time: antibiotics and recheck in a week. The doctor said he probably got something in his eye during our windy walks, or when he was running around in the oak leaves in the backyard. Our vet tech today also had a eye injury from a leaf that she got while working in the yard. Poor Max had to endure another eye stain and exam with a very bright light. He was such a trooper. Everyone in the vet's office is looking forward to seeing him in his Doggles next week when we do the follow up exam. |

Moto had a bad scratch a few months back and altho my vet said he may never have one again smaller dogs are more prone to them due to being lower to the ground and fur that extends into their line of vision can blur sticks and so forth compared to dogs with slick coats. I would keep both sets of drops on hand till the exp date just in case so you can get a head start if you feel he gets another before the next available vet appt. BTW wondering if you have noticed a different color hue to the eye since he's been on the drops for a few weeks? Moto had a slight red glow when the light caught his eye in certain ways. It has since gone away so I assumed it was due to the drops. |
Poor Max. I hope he heals fast and this is the last of his eye problems. |
Thank you all for the well wishes. :) Quote:
