I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie Boy. I will keep your family and Charlie Boy in my prayers. |
How is Charlie Boy doing? Just checking for an update. |
Thanks Kristen...Charlie is doing about the same. Today has been a down day for him. Not sure what now. Still doing the every 2 hour feedings BUT I would say 1/4 of the feeding's he is eating out of my hand (the soft food) instead of the syringe so that is good! Eating a few kibbles here and there. He was very constipated the other night. I was up for a few hours in the wee hours feeding time and he couldn't go. He finally went. Called the vet and she said to either give him canned pumpkin or olive oil with water. I did the olive oil/water and that helped. Today he went better and so far no more dihreaha (sp??) Follow up appointment is next week. Having trouble since he has been sick soiling his crate. UGH not sure why. It is the smallest crate and it is blocked off in the back. Suggestions?? Quote:

Hi, I hope you and Charlie boy are okay. PLease take care. I look forward to chatting when you are free. Enjoy the time with the kids. Mary |
Charlie had his vet appointment and finally was able to get his 2nd shots! He gained a 1/2 pound so now he is a whopping 1 1/2 lbs! Still having to coax him to eat soft food. He eats it out of our hand and we are up to 4 hours between feedings now that is real good:) Not much interest in any dry kibble still. A few here and there. Mainly a toy for him than food! It is out all the time I can't keep the soft food out all the since our Annie dog thinks it is a nice treat for her! He makes this weird hacking noise when he is playing and was describing it to the vet. She thinks collapsed trachea but would have to x-ray to confirm. Has anyone had an issue with this before?? I just hope he doesn't keep having problem after problem! I did buy some nutrical and gave him some today! WOWZERS!! That was an experience!! He ran and ran and did circles. I couldn't calm him down. I have not experienced anything like that before. It was very very funny! Is this a normal reaction?? |
Sounds like Charlie experienced a burst of energy from the sugar in nutrical. He just isn't use to it and is so light weight that it affects him more. He may just be experiencing light irritation in the throat and the fact that they do have trac problems is more obvious. I use a little spray of Chlorespectic because it numbs the tissue a little and I do it about 3 time per day for about 2 days. If he still has it then it may be more involved. Chad (new name Bodie) is not doing well yesterday and today. He is back with the rattle and congestion is more pronounced. He is on the 4 strenght of antibiotics and of course they are still being administered by injection. He has aspirate pneumonia still and I lay him on the curve of my neck to help him breathe every time he eats. Every meal seems to be both pleasure and torture. The vet added Robtussin to his regiment but he can't keep it down. I am going to try putting it in a bottle with a little can food with some formula to see if that will help. I wrap his eyes to try and mist his nostrils with the saline solution spray. I can't see any difference though. The nebulizer helps but at this stage I am really scared he may not make it. The vet keeps telling me it is not likely but I keep trying and he keeps fighting. Thanks for all the help, advice and prayers. Charlie and Chad have had a very challenging time but both seem to have such a spirit for living. Hope and keeping on it all I guess we can do. |
I hope Charlie gets better soon!! Brodie and I will be thinking of him :) |
