Powder poops? Has anyone experienced this? Kaji just did his poop ritual (spin and pick a spot) and as soon as it hit the pad and tray, it broke open and it was powdery. His normal poops are dark and solid, and this poop was dark and solid on the outside, but bright yellow and powdery on the inside. Like cake almost. Should I be worried? He's eating and drinking fine, but yesterday my dad said he was acting out more than usual. My dad thinks Kaji was incredibly uncomfortable yesterday. |
Fussy is the word I was looking for. He was fussy yesterday, and really nothing made him happy. |
Did he go yesterday? I really don't know, but it sounds like he was constipated. I don't know if some pumpkin would help or not, but I bet it would. |
He's been pooping on schedule. All were normal little poops until the one today. I could give him pumpkin just in case. |
The yellow coloring sounds strange. Has Kaji had anything out of the ordinary or new to eat? I have read that with higher protein/better diets, the poop will turn to "ash" fairly quickly once eliminated from the body. If I recall correctly, you recently switched kibble. Could there be a correlation? Or was it just the one poop? |

How can I better describe it.... Well, for lack of a better way to describe it, his poops looked similar to this: Attachment 331964 The inside was crumbly like a cake. I wish I was kidding! |
I think you have ruined donuts for me forever. ;) Hmm. Very strange poop situation. Is Kaji still fussy today? Did he seem to strain when he had this bm? |

He's happy as a clam today. I got him a new toy that he's been playing with since Friday night. He even brought it to bed last night. :p |
The first time my kids had chalky or powdey poop it scared the crap of me. But I discovered what caused it. My dogs have powdery poop whenever they eat bones. The color is usually off white to light yellow. My pups are fine as long as they eat too many. If they eat them too often they become constipated. |
LOL I meant to say don't eat too many of them. I don't like bones but hubby thinks he share whatever he cooks |
I understand. Kaji isn't allowed to have bones. The only way he could have had some is if he raided the trash. Hm.... |

Glad to hear Kaji is feeling well otherwise and enjoying his new toy. Hopefully this was an aberration and his poop will be back to normal the next time. |

As far as the powdery poop -- I would not worry -- probably a little on the dehydrated side. I seem to have to remind mine to drink sometimes. They are pretty good in hot weather but this fall, I have noticed some pretty dry poops too. Always makes me remember to herd them to the water bowl. Annie is better about it. She seems to love her water bottle. The other two have not paid it any attention. I guess they were never raised with one and now think it is just for her. Glad I am not the only one looking at poops. My son kidded me about always looking after they go in the yard. I told him that is one of the best ways to see a health problem. He still thinks I am weird. |
