Diarrhea over here after shot yesterday =[
 
Hi i talked about Hazel getting her shots yesterday the vet in this thread >>>>
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-came-vet.html <<<< she was fine yesterday, acted fine all today before and after dumping these diarrhea loads. she did 2 in about an hour-hour and a half. the first was a little firm, the last was like mud. i did search the threads but didn't find anything referring to exactly what i have going on over here. she's never had diarrhea before. shes eating normally... idk whats going on, should i be calling the vet NOW or wait to see what happens?

I had that happen to a couple of my pups after the DHPP. It lasted a couple of days and then back to normal.

ok, so it doesn't matter that she was fine the other 2 times she had it? shes never had diarrhea before so i feel soooooo badly for her! i wish it was me instead! so this could be a reaction to the shots? i should be calming down and watching her for the next couple of days or should i be contacting the vet?

It could be from the shot and may stop within a day or two. You should call your vet anyway just to let him/her know and ask if they need to see her. Also, definitely watch her for signs of dehyration.

well i'm trying to get her to drink water, i haven't really seen her drink any but her nose is wet. shes still acting fine... i called the vets cell phone to ask what i should do... i'll let you know what she says when she calls back.

Depends. Which vaccine(s) did you get before, and which recently? Also, reactions to vaccines can change/happen at any time, no matter if the previous shots went well.

she had her distemper DAPP with the breeder, with me she had CANINE & LEPTO DA2PP, then yesterday she had DA2PP puppy & lepto, and 1 YR rabies, along with the Metacam injectable (so she wouldn't be sore).

Best way to check for dehydration is to lift her lip and touch her gums. Should be wet to the touch.

Wow! That's a lot in one day. Many times, it's recommended that you get DAPP - then wait 3 wks - then get rabies. Rabies is usually best given alone, no matter what some try to tell you. Lepto isn't a core vaccine, but is it endemic to your area - is that why you get it? If it is not endemic, then the risk of the vaccine often outweighs the risk of disease.

I so hope she feels better soon :)!

thanks!! i'll do that now *grabs Hazel* they're not all juicy but they is wetness on my finger when i touch them.

yeah after the fact i heard that she shouldn't have gotten the 3 shots in one day :( but i HAD no idea, and never thought to question the vet... i feel like a bad mommy :( she never explained to me, i never knew that was a separate part of the shot you could request not to get until yesterday or today after the fact. i live in southern new jersey, idk if there is or not :confused: but when this vet calls me back if she does, i hope she does then i'll ask her about it!

You are not a bad mommy! Wylie had too many shots as a pup too. I just didn't know enough at the time. Believe me, it's a lifelong learning process :).
