Not necessarily. It's one thing to rule out, but you need to look further for things like IBD. If you read the OP's description, he has had previous episodes of this that would rule out a foreign body. Good overview on IBD, including history and tests. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in Dogs |

And if the vomiting and blood is from Pancreatitis, it is best just to watch TV and read a good book, as doing nothing is the best form of medicine. I am glad you were not a Corpsman in Nam! |
yes the inflammation can be cause by something he ate; however even if the bleeding stops the inflammation is not going anywhere; and any little thing (even stress) can trigger another flare up. so please he needs to be seen by a vet asap. |

Sending prayers for Pippin to have a full recovery, and for you to get some much needed rest. |

The vet called this morning to check on Pippin. He doesn't want to make any changes right now until we get this under control. Then he wants to do an x-ray to rule out a foreign object. If that is negative to send him to a specialist in San Francisco. I'm thinking of asking him when he's better to just refer me to the specialist. I know it would rule out one more thing, but I think if it was a foreign object there wouldn't be 3 months between of no problems. I mentioned to him predisone, and he said he had been thinking about that but he doesn't want to do anything else right now. I told him about the hornet last night, and that I think Pip ate one a week or two ago, and he said that could have triggered this. He said stress also could have caused it. My daughter had brought over her dog a week ago and he kept taking Pippin's toys away from him, and Pippin is such a sissy he wouldn't go over and try and get it back. He just would go to my daughter and cry for her to go get it. The trowing up started that night. I just don't want to see him go through this again. Every time it has been more intense and lasted longer. |

I know we still have to get to the bottom of what is wrong with him, but just to see him feeling good again is a relief. Thanks for everyone's advice and good wishes. |
