HELP I think Mocha has BLOAT Please please if anybody is online please help. Mocha ate some pickles she picked up off the floor. I think that caused her to VOMIT everything in her stomach. She ate the pickles about 5 hours ago. The vomiting and runs was about 2 hours ago. Since then she has drank a lot, and vomited some water, drank again and no vomit. It is 2 AM where I am and NO VETS are open 24 hours, NOBODY I could call. I have been googling bloat and she seems to be having many of the symptoms. Am I crazy, paranoid, or what?? I don't know what to do and my dog might be dying!! PLEASE HELP |

I'm never heard of a dog vommiting and having bloat, because bloat is when the food expands and twists their intestines. If she's drinking water that's a good sign. All you can do is watch her very closely and call your Vet in the AM. You can get some pedialite, make sure she stays hydrated. I really don't think it's bloat. But that's just my opinion. I've personally NEVER heard of a little dog experiencing it. Offer a tiny amount of food or plain cooked chicken. If she's drinking water and her appetite returns then I would think she's just fine and has an upset tummy. |
I would give her a tsp of canned organic pumpkin (pumpkin will be the only ingredient). that always helps little Bailey! |

@erinlee 1. Her tummy is taut 2. Shallow breathing 3. Her gums are not red like usual. It's quite white 4. Drank excessively 5. Very weak I base the symptoms on this guide: Bloat in Dogs I don't know, I may be crazy. It seems crazy. She vomited ALL of the food she ate today so if it's the food expanding, how could it be when I'm pretty sure everything she ate is vomited? But her belly is VERY TIGHT. What else could cause these symptoms? I'm up for suggestions. She's never been like this. She's 2.5 years old. |

I just heard lots of gurgling from her tummy. Can this be bloat if I hear activity in her tummy? Mocha's 2.5 yo and weighs around 2.9 to 3.1 kg. |

I'm sure there are rare instances of small breeds experiencing this, but stastictically wise... it's just not very likely. I just read that it's more common in large breed males, who eat a large amount of dry kibble and exercise afterwards. Pickles are not dry... and if she vommited everything up then there can't really be anything left inside to expand. :confused: |
@chachi It is 2 AM. No vet is open. No vet I could call. NO VETS. And it is Idul Fitri, New Year's for muslims. My country celebrates it. I doubt anyone is open or in town. I don't know what to do. |
It could also be shes hungry because of the vommiting but you need to get her to the vet because of the white gums that is an emergency situation |
I don't think it's bloat (but that is possible). White gums do indicate that this is an emergency. I suppose all you can do is be waiting at the vet's when they open. i don't think feeding or watering is a good idea. |
Go with your gut, but if her gums are white that means she's dehydrated. :( Quote:

do you have some pepto on hand or pepcid; anything to settle her stomach. don't let her drink anymore; gurgling noises are signs of digestive upset. |
She needs to stay hydrated, if you don't let her drink anything and she is already dehydrated then she could die. I would NOT refrain from letting her drink water, if you want to hold off on food that's fine. What do the doctors tell us when we are sick? STAY HYDRATED. Flush whatever bad bacteria there is out. You must allow her access to water. |

Maybe you should research pickles and dogs who get sick from them. How many did she eat? How much does she weigh? Was there anything else she could have possibly gotten into? Were her symptoms directly after eating the pickles? What else has she eaten today? |
She seems ok lying down, or sitting. She doesn't seem to be reluctant to move, she followed me when I had to go to the bathroom just now. But she's whining. A lot. She's not a whiner. And no matter how late it is, she's always quite alert and bouncing with energy. When I press her belly, she groans. I don't know. I'm about to go crazy. |

ellie mae; u have experience with pancreatitis; when an attack is coming don't you have to withhold water too because it can make it worst? |
The only thing about withholding water is she has vommited alot and could be dehydrating |

She's not trying to vomit. That's all I keep thinking about. Friends, please say a prayer for Mo. I hope I can get a vet as early as 6 AM. It's 3 more hours. |
