| ![]() I just wanted to add my 2 cents, not necessarily for the original poster, but for anyone who has had a similar problem with their Yorkie. While I TOTALLY agreed that they need to be taken to the vet ASAP, Spike had a similar thing a few months back, where I woke up in the morning and found several places where he had had diarrhea, and where he had vomited a couple of times. He was lethargic, and just looked sick. I took him to the vet that afternoon, and he was already looking a tiny bit better. The vet checked him over, and said his temperature was a little high, but still in the "normal" range, gave him a little bit of pain medication to help with his tummy ache, and palpated his abdomen. He flinched a tiny bit, but no sign of real pain. She suggested I feed him some plain food, like ground beef and rice, and gave me some liquid medication for the diarrhea. She said if he was no better the next day, bring him back and we would do some blood tests and check for more things. By that evening, he was a little better, he was drinking water but turned his nose up at the lovely ground beef I made for him (although the cat loved it!). By the next morning, he was back to about 70%, and he cleaned his breakfast plate in about 15 seconds flat! It took about two more days before he was back to 100 percent, but the general consensus is that he ate something he shouldn't have and got an upset tummy as a result. I wanted to tell this story because sometimes I think that people on the website immediately panic and suggest the worst case scenario when something is wrong with the pup. I love Spike, and would do absolutely anything for him, and I absolutely wanted to get him to the vet ASAP when he was sick. It's so hard because they can't tell us what's wrong. If it's a person who's sick, they can say something like "oh, it's just an upset stomach. I feel rotten, but it's nothing serious." Dogs can't do this for us, and that causes us to panic at times. The moral of this story: Get your dog checked, but don't panic until you have to. Dogs get upset stomachs and colds just like we do. They just can't tell us that's what it is!

There's a long history... ![]() Hopefully, the dog is at the vets. Any dog, big or small, that has diarrhea and lethargy needs to be seen. There are too many potential causes, some that can be treated easily, others that need more serious intervention.

| ![]() Just to make it clear, I'm posting for anyone else that might run into this problem. When a dog has these symptoms, get him/her to the vet ASAP!!!!! It could be any number of things. In the case of a little dog such as this one, with what I can only assume to be attachment issues (taken from his mother too soon) he could have made himself sick. I have experienced that myself, and it started with the symptoms that the OP's dog had. He had really runny diarrhea, wasn't playful, and when it took a turn for the worse, Kaji could no longer control his bladder or his poops. Pee would run down his belly when he would turn over for belly rubs because he simply could not control himself any more. His nerves had made him sick. Kaji has some separation issues, so in a sad way it made sense that this was his reaction when he was separated from me for one afternoon. Like the OP's dog, he was in the best of hands with his canine bff and her parents. It didn't make a difference. This is all speculation, and the only one that can determine the cause of any dog's ailments is a vet. It could be any number of things, and in my case it was nerves and severe separation anxiety. For any case, PLEASE SEE A VET!!!

| ![]() This obviously calls for an immediate vet visit. I don't care if it ended up being just a 24 hour doggie flu. If he wasn't taken to a vet, then games were being played with his life. I certainly hope that did not happen... And I think you'll find less and less people that will be willing to try and give you advice next time if you do not update this thread.

| ![]() This thread is a joke. The entire thing. Let's just all please see if an update is provided or not. The only thing that should be posted on this site is advice - "Get to a Vet immediately" and an "update". Everything else is silly and very immature.
