YT 500 Club Member | Heart murmer Took Rosie back to the vets today to get her heart rechecked after an emergencey visit 2 weeks ago. The news wasn't as we'd hoped, she definitly has a pronounced heart murmer at only 17 months old. The vet thinks its congential as she's so young so theres a chance it may stay the same as it is. However he is concerned that it didnot show up on her medical when she had her booster injection. For now she is showing no clinical signs so he doesn't feel she needs to go on any medication. We've been through this previously so we're well aware of the signs to look out for if it should get worse which were praying it never does. Theres the possibility of her seeing a specialist for tests in the future if it develops. |

| What grade did the vet rate the murmur? I have a 10 year old dog who has one and it is a 1-2 grade and she has never had any symptoms all these years. Was diagnosed at 4 with it and it has stayed the same grade ever since. No meds. |

YT 500 Club Member | They didn't say what grade, and I forgot to ask as he was explaining to me what causes a murmer in the first place. The emergencey vet said it was slight, the vet we saw yesterday said significant. He was surprised nothing was picked up earlier which is why he was talking about tests, but he did say all it would mean was we would know the cause, it wouldn't change the out come. She doesn't have the cough yet, just preferes a little peace and quiet, so were hopeful it will stay that way and she can have a relitivly normal life, which for her means lots of cuddles and spoiling. If it does progress then we'll deal with that too. Thankyou for your concern and prayers. |

| I'm sorry. Is there any hope that she may outgrow it as she gets a little older?

| Sorry about the unsettling news. Heart murmurs are very concerning. Hope all goes well at the specialist.

She still runs around like a loon on a walk, but wants carrying later, which I'm more than happy to do so she can go out with the others. I know we'll have to keep a check on her weight, easy enough as shes not a big eater. We can just hope it stays like it is or repairs itself. Its hard not to keep watching her every move, but we have to let her live a normal life. Not sure whether to get her bloods checked, or wether it would just be adding more stress on her. | |
