smil1025 | 07-29-2010 05:45 AM | Sending prayers and thoughts your way that Max recovers soon. Please get a second opinion from another vet for your little Max. A few months ago, my Lil Megan was throwing up alot, wouldn't eat, drank alot of water and urinated often. Took her to my vet, who immediately put her on IV fluids and did blood tests. The results of the blood tests were alarming low. She immediately sent me to a vet specialist for testing. He did more blood tests, and put her under to do scopic tests to check out her liver, kidneys, stomach and intestines and took biopsies. To make a long story short, the tests indicated IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease). Megan was put on IV fluids and stayed in the hospital overnight (what a LONG night that was). He immediately gave her a shot of an antibotic and about 3:00AM she ate some food for the nurse and kept it down. He has put her on Prednizone (steroid) and Metromytenzol (Antibotic). He took her off ALL and ANY foods that she has ever had in the past. He put her on Royal Canine Venison and Potatoes kiblets. She is not allowed to have anything else, only carrots for treats. She is now doing wonderful and it seems like I have a new Yorkie as this is the best she has been in a year!!! Spunky, fiesty and eating well!!! He just did blood tests again and all her blood work came back normal in all avenues. He is slowing taking her off the Prednizone and she will be on the Metromytenzol, Azathioprine and a special diet most likely for the rest of her life.
Best wishes and good luck to you and Max, please keep us posted on how he is doing. I will keep him in my prayers ((HUGS))) |
