Please HELP!! Atlantoaxial Subluxation!!!!! My puppy Dior is just about 6 months old now and has been walking really funny. We took her to the doctor and she first started with Bile Acid Test. This came back abnormal but not over 100 for either test. Today we had a neck x-ray and she has been diagnosed with Atlantoaxial Subluxation. I have read a little about this congenital disease but I don't know what to do with her. The vet says there is a surgery that they can do but its expensive. I don't care about the cost but then there is her liver problem, which were not even sure what is going on there. I don't know what to do and anything at this point will help. If anyone has gone through this or done this before please let me know!

Hi everyone, Thank you so much for the prayers and thoughts! Dior had her ultra sound yesterday and they said that it went great and there was nothing really to worry about there. Today she is having an MRI at 11:30 (eastern time) and then surgery at 1. She really needs all the prayers she can get today in hopes that everything goes smoothly. I should know something later in the day and I will keep you all posted. Thanks again for the great support!

Dior had the MRI and surgery yesterday and everything went well. They said she had a lot of compression on her spine and that her second vertebrae had moved a lot so it took a while (4.5 hours)! They called around 9 last night and informed me that everything went as planned and that she had woken up and was breathing on her own (such a relief). Today I called to check on her and they said she was standing to eat and drink but was still very uncomfortable so they are keeping her on the pain meds all day today. I think she is coming home on Monday if everything goes well!! Thank you for all the prayers and support!

AAI Surgery... Our puppy "Ole" had his surgery the first of May and he is just now walking and running around again. It has been a rough few months... helping him to go potty... hand feeling him... home rehabilitation... but everyday he is better. We posted a photo of him and some updates here... The Barnum Blog: Our Yorkie Puppy "Ole" had his Atlantoaxial Subluxation surgery... Best wishes to you and your puppy!
