Watched the video I understand your concern I hope the Dr can help her. |
just thought of something else. Call your vet in am to get the manufacturer of that microchip and call and ask if they have had any reports of this in other dogs |
here is some info and link - do you remember if the vet did the implant in the neck area :( as this states here as the neck area can be key in what is going on :( is the chip still there can you feel it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microchip_implant_(animal) Implant location In dogs and cats, chips are usually inserted below the skin at the back of the neck, between the shoulder blades on the dorsal midline. Continental European pets may be an exception; they get the implant in the left side of the neck, according to one reference.[1] The chip can often be manually detected by the owner by gently feeling the skin in that area. It stays in place as thin layers of connective tissue form around the biocompatible glass which encases it. |

As far as I know, he didn't adjust it. I don't really want to put blame on him, I'm new to the whole microchipping thing. It just confuses that here she was a perfectly healthy puppy one day, sees the vet the next and is sick within less than 24 hours of the process. She also had a physical that day before the chip was implanted and she passed with flying colors. |
Tracey I just wanted to say I will be thinking of you and have Cherrie in my prayers. I hope they will get to the bottom of this and she will be ok. The video brought tears to my eyes. To you and Cherrie |

Also as someone else said, Bloods and X-ray should be done immediately while you waite for a Neuro appt so the Neuro can have the results of those things before your appt. This could be from the chip or it could be liver related also AAI , Chiari or GME so please don't waste time in getting to the bottom of this as it could be life threatening. |
I hope that you can figure out what it is going on with Cherrie. Will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers. |
Poor baby. I hope you figure out what is going on soon. As others have already told you, please have your vet run blood work while you are waiting for the neurology appt. How old is she? Is it possible that she has a liver shunt? Someone else mentioned AAI. Keeping you in my thoughts. |
Oh that poor baby. It does seem strange that she was fine until the chip. I hope you get to the bottom of this soon! |
Tracey, I am so sorry this has happened, but please don't blame yourself. I hope you are able to find out what is wrong, and soon. I will certainly say prayers for your girl and sending warm hugs to you too. |

It seems more neurological to me than liver shunt like the dog in video i posted that was wobbly :( and I think that dog had GME :( |

It seems more neurological to me than liver shunt like the dog in video i posted that was wobbly :( and I think that dog had GME which is inflammation on the spinal cord so if the vet hit the spinal cord with that needle this could have triggered it or since dog had vaccinations two weeks prior that can also be a trigger and just a coincidence with the chip implantation :( |
Just checking for updates and hoping for good news. |
I just posted to GME group for them to look at your videos and this information to get their take on this |
the group watched the video and here is the response one member wanted me to post for you If your Yorkie was vaccinated recently, it could have triggered GME encephalitis, which is common in Yorkies, Pugs, and Maltese. Have infectious tests run first and then you'll need a spinal tap. Chemo and pred and the right dose of pred is the only treatment for this. The immune system has gone haywire and is attacking the brain. Time is of the essence in getting them into remisson, so if she doesn't improve don't wait!!! There is a Yahoo group dedicated to saving GME dogs called NewGMEdogs. If you get that diagnosis, the people on that site are very experienced with this disease. I am so sorry. Your dog looks just like mine did when he was diagnosed with GME. He's alive two years later, so there is hope, but don't wait. |
here is another response As for the microchip, the immune system can go haywire with anything foreign to the body such as invading organisms, vaccinations, tick bites, injuries, etc. |
what vaccinations were done 2 weeks ago and were they all done at the same time as they think more vaccine related than microchip :( some think the microchip was jsut a coincidence :( |

here is another response from a member :( Definitely something neurological and considering the vaccinations recently and being a Yorkie, it's sure a big chance. Aside from sudden sadness watching that video, it absolutely INFURIATES me that the veterinary community does nothing about the amount of vaccine small dogs get. They get the same amount for their little amount of weight as a Great Dane. Can you believe that? When will it change? No wonder there are few big dog breeds that come down with GME. |
So very sorry that you and your baby are suffering thrugh this. I pray that all will be well. These horrible things are everybodys worst nightmare. It could happen to any one of our little furbabies. Your story scares me as my vet has said he will spay my 6 mth old next week, and do all her shots (breeder "forgot" to give any shots after 8 weeks), and microchip. She is a big girl for 6 mths, about 9 or 10 lbs, but now I am very nervous about all this at the same time. |

I feel it's to much for them to handle all at once. |
dhpp was done 2 weeks prior to this reaction op please confirm on here as want others to be aware of all the information we have been discussing in pm to help others be aware of what is going on and why splitting vaccinations might help |
