nope, it is way too far. I am afraid to say she is better, but after two doses of prednisolon I started to give her yesterday, she has stopped shaking and slept all night very good. |
Well....I called to my regular vet... He and internal suspect brain tumor... he recommends if her blindness continue in a few days after taking prednisolon, to put her down.... She was eating this morning, slept very well, but still doesn't see (she felt down twice yesterday because of it). I would say, comparable last Tuesday, she is better, but she is still very sick... |

Quality of life is what should be looked at. If she is doing very well on teh steroids besides blindness, then I don't think you need to make that decision right now. So is an MRI and spinal tap out of the question now? Because they can't really diagnose this sort of thing without testing... And it doesn't even sound like they ruled out a shunt yet which could be operable. More should be done than an ultrasound with bile acids that high and these symptoms. |
I agree with Ellie May... Not sure how then can suggest PTS yet  |
Oh, do you really think, I will be able to put her down because of blindness!!!!?????? You have a very wrong idea about me. I absolutely agree the quality of life is the most important!!!!! I will do all possible if she can live a happy life without suffering. I don't care blind she is or not, I do care if she is in suffer or not. The reason vet recommends me to do it if her symptoms not go away, prognoses are bad - she WILL suffer. And blindness is not the reason, pain and side effects ARE. |

You need to get your dog with a neurologist immediately. They need to do mri and spinal tap. If it is this they will treat with chemo drugs and steroids and after a year the dog can go into remission. Go onto NEWGME on yahoogroups.com Due to age that is my guess here - did your dog have any vaccinations recently as usually this can trigger it within 2 months of a vaccination. Granulomatous Meningoencephalomyelitis (GME) I would not euthanize until i had a full exam by a neurologist |

By time I mean time to think about euthanizing before rushing into it (vet seems rushed). I don't mean it's okay to wait on further testing. |
The sooner the dog is treated for neurological condition the better the out come so i would not wait on this any further. |

more tests..... I just posted an opinion of two vets. It does not mean I will follow their advices asap. Polinka is sleeping now, I gave her all medications this morning..... |

I just think if xray came out fine then MRI and spinal tap need to be done as this sounds neurological due to legs going out in back end. Check out link i posted and see if this sounds like what is going on Also was she vaccinated at all within the last few months? This could be key |

I also try to read as much as possible about it ;) and neurologist already started treatment with prednisolon, because yesterday I pushed internal and she spoke to him before giving this medication. |

Thank you all, guys:). No, she was not giving any vaccines for almost one year. To be honest, I try to be extremely careful with vaccines, because there are too much side effects. I also wouldn't put a microchip if it was my decision, but Polinka does have it, unfortunately. My second dog does not have it. BTW, neurologist saw Polinka at very first visit, it was just not a special apointment with me. Internal had concerns and showed my dog to him. |
