How's Cookie feeling this morning? |
Cookie has a 10:40 appointment at the vet. |
Cookie was a bit more cooperative today with us looking at her throat and it was a bit reddened. The xray showed some bronchial inflammation. So....she will continue on the Doxycycline and Hydroxyzine and will most likely be fine! Having some lawn work done today and she is busy talking to the guys....I hate this because it is only going to irritate things more. |
Great news!! :) |
I found this & thought it was interesting: Yes, dogs can get hoarse if they bark long enough. My dogs often come home hoarse after a kennel stay. If your dog hasn't been kenneled recently, is it possible that she's been doing a fair amount of barking when left home alone? Your neighbors would be able to confirm this. Dogs can get sore throats, pharyngitis, laryngitis and all of the other things that people get. These problems usually clear up within a few days to a few weeks. You can try placing a humidifier or vaporizer near where your spends a lot of time. The moist air can help her sore throat. If you like, you can add about 3 drops lavender or chamomile essential oil to the water. Keep in mind that these units need to be cleaned daily, otherwise they just spew bacteria. You can try soothing your dog's sore throat with a lemon flavored herbal tea with a little honey in it (about 1/2 a teaspoon). Make sure the tea is caffeine free. After you brew the tea offer it to your dog when it's warm, and not hot. Dental problems, such as gingivitis or periodontal disease, can sometimes cause increased swallowing, which can cause a sore throat, which could cause hoarseness. Dogs: basset hound health, little honey, herbal tea |
Thanks. Yes, it is funny she has never had it happen before. She is quite a loud one. :D As far as teeth...my pups all have dentals every year. |
hope the medicine kicks in quickly and she's feeling better soon! |
Thank you. :) |
Give Cookie a big kiss from me Linda. Tell her I said she needs to get better and start yapping again |

How is the little dog doing today? There are times I wish Max would lose her voice for a few hours....but, that is how she talks and orders us around letting us know w=she wants something, and we had better move fast. That little high pitched yap does have an effect. Now when Carlo does bark once in a while, the walls litterly shake. |

Cookie's voice is returning! Also, my vet called yesterday because she had taken all of Cookie's records and xrays to the specialists (they meet once/month and discuss cases) and the specialists said that all looks great with her! :) |
great news! bet she has a lot of catching up to do in the barking department! |
