So, Tink is better today. I got some pumpkin and some tushi wipes on the way home tonight. No explosion in the crate today. Yay! :D She had some of the pumpkin for dinner and I'm cooking some chicken and rice now for later. Gotta drag my blender out and "swirl" it so it will be easier on her tummy. Maybe I should get a processor one of these days.:rolleyes:

She just had another bath and she wants to go outside soooo badly. She's standing at the screen door whining and pawing. Sorry baby.:(

I think this is the way it's gonna be until the pollen settles for the year. I hope it's not this way in the fall too. :eek:

I'm so glad she is better today. I know that makes you feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from your shoulders. Perhaps the pollen in the fall won't be as bothersome. You can hope...:)

I really think they are basically harmless if left alone, but I don't know what they might do if a pup would bother them.

I have a couple that has allergies, What we did that helped enormously was to buy a couple of Air filters for the house.
We keep the windows and doors shut and and run the air filters all the time. Be sure they are Hepa filters. You would be amazed how much it helps. Not only the dogs but yourself and I now dust once a week instead of everyday.:p

:(:(:( poor baby ! How long have you been in texas ? Could it be the water change maybe ? How about bottled water then gradually add whatever you normally use ? You aren't at fault here - they're so sensitive to change. I wonder what else you can do to make her more comfortable....I'd feel awful too

Hi Vi! Are you still in Houston? I moved to Austin in January. I'm having major culture shock!:eek: But I sure enjoyed being here for the rest of the winter.:)

Tink is doing much better now that we have the pumpkin. No explosions or watery stools for two days now. YAY! Still alot of mucus but we can deak with that.

Thanks for the advice and I'm sure it's good, but we love the outdoors and moved from the north to enjoy it. Unless things get worse again, I'm gonna go with Kelli's advice and bathe Tink daily and use baby wipes on her when we come in from being outdoors. She'll be the cleanest dog in Austin. :thumbup: :D

Be careful with bathing her every day. it may be too much for her skin. start with weekly and then if that's not good enough drop it down to every 6 days, 5 days, etc... so that you can see if her skin starts getting really dry at a certain number of days. remember to condition her each time since she's getting washed so often. personally i like to use whatever shampoo i like and then condition with an oatmeal based conditioner on dogs that come in for weekly baths. I like espree products and that's what we use in the shop.

Thanks Kelli, I'll be careful. Actually, it's hard to not bathe her every day. She always jumps in the shower with me in the morning. If I have the time, I wash her but often I have to put her out on the rug. If I shut the door to keep her out, she just scratches and cries.

I use baby shampoo on her hair and I do use an oatmeal conditioner, just to be safe. She loves her baths.:)

Her poos are pretty watery today, so I'm keeping a close watch on her. I gave her some pumpkin awhile ago. Hope it helps again.

human baby shampoo is not good for dog hair. it is very drying to the skin.

Just to add: It's formulated to remove 'cradle cap' on human babies, so it would be way to harsh for everyday use. Oatmeal, coconut (my fav), chamomile... all calm the itchies and can be soothing. Coconut products are naturally antifungal, antibiotic, bug repellant to name a few, and great for skin conditioning....
