awww yeah post pics!!!! :) I just love Layla and pray for her everyday! :) |
I am so happy to hear that Layla is tail-waggin again. She sounds like she is really doing well. Your weekend away seemed like the perfect vacation for all of you...cannot wait to see pictures!:animal-pa |
3 Attachment(s) Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers for our little family :) Here are some pictures of Layla from this past weekend. 1. Layla's first real stroll outside 2. Layla sitting with us around the fire pit 3. "Why isn't there fire mom?" I have a couple more pictures from the golf course but they are tiiiiny and still not below the 200 kb allowed for pictures =/ So I guess this is okay for now! |
She's so cute in her stroller. It's got to be so good for her to be able to get out like that! She looks like she was really enjoying herself. To keep her spirits up must help her recover.:) |
Lindsey your story has touched all our hearts here on YT. Although I do not post often, not a day goes by that I do not check for updates on Layla. I am so very happy to hear how well she is doing. You are a very special young lady and I do believe in my heart that you, Scott and Layla will have a happily ever after! The pictures of Layla in her stroller seem to tell the entire story! Look how she is "smiling" in the first picture! I look forward to hearing about Layla's continued progress :heart to ~Debbie |
The thing that makes me feel the best is when people comment on how happy Layla seems. On Tuesday we were at the vet's office for laser therapy, and the waiting room was full, and Layla sling-walked in and sniffed around and "smiled" at everyone! One lady started asking me what's wrong with her and why she can't use her back legs, if she'll ever be able to walk again, etc. And her husband just commented "Well she sure looks happy anyway!" We got the same thing when we picked her up last night from rehab. At least two people commented on how she was so full of spirit. I just hope it helps people to see that with a little dedication any dog can live a full life even when handicapped. I feel like I hit a point a couple of days ago where I just saw the light... if Layla doesn't improve another inch, I will be happy and love her as she is. She is still perfect to me! We will continue taking her to rehab and I might stick with laser therapy for a few more weeks, but I think in July we'll look at ordering her a cart so she can run around the yard with us in the evenings. That is why we bought our house in the first place :) |
What a great GREAT attitude Linz!!! Don't give up hope yet but know there are alternatives! :) I cannot stress enough how lucky Layla is to have you and Scott as parents. She is adorable in her stroller, I love pics of her! :) |

Reading this one post makes me quite emotional. How lucky Layla is to have you and how lucky you are to have Layla. And just because you put her in a cart doesn't mean she won't progress beyond where she is. I am not sure if it was here or a PM where I shared with you the story about the shihtzu here in NJ that was featured on Animal Planet's DOGS 101. The little thing was in a cart for a few years and one day began walking again. So with love and determination anything is possible for these little ones. They should all definitely be judged by their spirit and determination instead of their size. That is why they all feel they are big dogs!! Keep that fabulous mind-set. It will take all of you even further! |
Aww; I think she looks really happy in her pink stroller. Love the pictures! She looks perfectly content to me. I read your thread often and am so glad that Layla is doing better. |
Thank you everyone, and thank you Christie for helping me out with your stories as well! I could not get Layla's bladder expressed today and it worried me a lot! I tried 3 times between noon and 2 pm and there was nothing. Her last pee was this morning at 7. So when we went in for laser therapy, I asked the tech if she would mind trying it for me. She tried and couldn't get a thing, so she called the vet in to try. She tried too, and couldn't even find the bladder. She said it must not be filled, maybe she just didn't drink anything. I'd guess that took about 5 minutes total.... and I was charged an extra $31 for it!!!!! My bill went from $22 to $53. Now I know not to ask for help expressing her there anymore! It's been almost 10 hours without expressing now so I'm going to give it another try again soon. I think she's just trying to keep me on my toes! |
Well, she does always look happy!:D Do you suppose she's going on her own? |
I wondered that, but she is always in her crate and I checked the fleece bedding and there's no signs of any pee. I did get some out when I expressed her after the last post, thank goodness. We had a nice cuddle tonight on the couch. We both fell asleep for about an hour. We're getting back to being normal again. When she was thirsty she let me know she wanted back in her crate. So in she went, had a drink, and went back to sleep in there. |
Ah! She loves to cuddle with mommie.:p She seems to be doing pretty well and she's happy. I always come check on Layla. She's so precious!:) |
She really does seem so happy in her stroller:) I'll bet your positive attitude is helping her so much!!! Is a possible reason the bladder is getting harder to express is because she is controlling it...because that'd be great!! |
It is just wonderful to read how well Layla is doing and how committed you are to taking care of her. She is a lucky dog. Those pictures of Layla in her stroller are adorable. You wouldn't know anything was wrong with her at all. She looks likes she is sitting there on her own going along for a great ride. Too cute! |
