Hopefully you were able to get him to a vet tonight. I always prefer to err on the side of caution and have them checked out by my vet. Keep us posted.

I would get him to a vet asap as the tick thing could be tied to this as they can get sick from a tick bite - difficulty breathing is the one thing associated with a tick bite - GET HIM IN NOW

not sure but i would not take any chances - breathing issues are nothing to mess with in my opinion :(

thank goodness we do not have issues with ticks here but i know where the op is there are deer ticks there

Yes and also can manifest many months or even years after the bite.

That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't want someone to not see the vet thinking there was no longer any need. The problem is still there and can probably manifest itself in a worse way upon returning.

Well, I'm back from the doggy ER. They checked him out, and decided to give him a dewormer, antinausea and antibiotics. they didn't take any xrays cause we spent everything we had just for the visit and what I just mentioned above. also we needed to save some money for his original vet tomorow.

Oh! they also injected fluids under his skin so he wouldn't dehydrate from throwing up. They said it's best to inject the fluid under his skin so his body takes what it needs, not that they put too much fluid in his little body. he is a toy breed yorkie. Anyways, thats that for now. I'll be back on tomorrow, it's 2am here now and tired from worrying about little murphey.

Crap!!

Forgot to mention, that the tick bite was about 2 weeks ago and the doggy doc said that it's too soon for Murph to have symptoms for lymes disease. the incubation period is like 3 months.

Glad you took him in - I'd be very worried too I have no experience with lyme disease but since you mentioned ticks - that came to mind first...

Good luck and I hope they find out what's wrong

lyme is not the only disease a tick can cause - check out the links i sent - did they do a blood work up on him as that is very important
