drowned Hi, i'm so sorry about your baby!!! how amazing you were to keep the little one as i can't imagine it being my minnie. we were wondering about the drowing part, if you decided to not keep your little one, isn't that illegal to do to an animal? we think you're such a wonderful person to love and cherish your little pup |
I hope your little one has a speedy recovery and adjusts well. Thank you for keeping him and not returning him to the breeder that didn't even know he was minus a foot! |
Poor sonny, I am sure you are going through a lot right now. I will pray that he recovers quickly. He has a wonderful Mom to love him through this!! He was meant to survive that is why you chose him, so he is going to be fine and adjusting fine. Dogs do adapt quickly. I remember when Daisy dislocated her elbow they taped it up in a splint and she was on 3 legs for 3 weeks and after the first week she was running up and down stairs. hugs to you both~Joyce |

My good friend adopted an Australian Shepherd that required a rear leg amputation. She has adapted well and runs with him every day. She did have to have an ACL repair last year, 6 yrs after the amputation. The remaining rear leg may eventually almost center itself for balance. The only thing the vet required of him was to keep her weight under control because too much weight is not good for the single leg to support. |
update on sonny thank you to all,,,, i just got sonny home from vets he is in his cage with door open, he came out for water and returned to it again, he is a bit down ,only to be expected!! but its a relief to have him home, sonny bought the vet a nice bottle of wine and the staff a box of chocolates, and a thank you card,, for all the great work they done, i will try to get photos in next couple off days for u all . such a wee soldier!!!! xxxx:D |

Metacam sonny seems very uncomfortable , he runs and hides, and looks so sad, its heart breaking, i give him his METACAM 4kg this mornin [syringe] its only once a day then his antibiotic noroclav 50mg twice a day, would it be wrong to give him a little more pain med at night as he usually gets it in mornings,??? |
ps i read about the drugs, and wont give any extra, i will phone vet if he continues to feel this way......:animal-pa |

you are an angel for all you have done for this little boy! |
Thank you for keeping the sweet little one and for taking care of him the way he should be taken care of for life. On the other hand, any breeder that didn't know a puppy was missing a foot within hours of it happening is a shyster, money grubbing, non-caring, scum bucket. He obviously didn't even look this pup over before handing him over to you! Now on the positive side. My girlfriend is a vet tech and one day a lady brought a lab puppy in to be euthanized because the mother had actually chewed the leg off thinking she was chewing the cord etc. They were having the vet put it down, but my friend asked if she could have the pup instead and the breeder said yes and even paid the bill to have the leg cleaned up and medicated. They kept him with mom let him wean and he has been the love of her life! |
