how did she do after you rinsed her ? I would use cool water as warm can open pores and allow allergent into skin

I had a Schnauzer when I was little that could never be shaved...only cut with scissors. He would always have an allergic reaction for the razor. I am not sure why as I was really young, but we only had his hair cut after that and he never had another reaction! :)

Was there a certain kind of coconut oil to get? I think you may have told me before, but i forgot to note it somewhere. I should get some to put in the doggy first aid kit. Did you say Whole Foods has it?

Sorry to hear that your baby is hurting. I would probably bath him in his regular shampoo to get anything off him, using cool water. Then put on a t shirt to keep him from hurting himself more. I hope he feels better soon.

Don't rinse her in warm water. Use cool water as cool as she can stand it. But, do a rinse of 1 part vinager to 10 parts water. This is a natural antibacterial. Then rinse with cool water. Because she is scratching, which is making matters worse, you need to keep on eye on her open wounds to make sure she doesn't develop a staph infection. Yes, you can use Neosporin or a like triple antibiotic....but, not often, you want those wounds to dry up. If she continues itching badly. I low dosage cortisone shot might be needed. I don't recommend them and most good vets administer them with reservation, but will when a dog is that uncomfortable.

What about the ears? Am I right for thinking ears are more sensitive?

I need a "doggy first aid kit" what kinds of things do you keep in there?

There is a Benadryl topical that you can purchase to alleviate the itching. However, I usually keep Chris Christensen's Peace and Kindness on hand at all times.

i use this too it has colloidal silver in it

nutiva from whole foods is fine for topical - I use another brand for internal and topical but you have to order it online

I don't have all those things in the link. I basically have a peoples first aid kit, and then added to it, hydrogen peroxide, nutrical, diarsynal paste (for diahrea, works great), liquid (kids) benedryl. For the canned pumpkin, if you buy a can, get a melon baller or small spoon and make little balls and freeze them, so if you need to give pumpkin you don't have to waste the rest of the can.

I just want to thank everyone for their great advice! I am now armed with Nutiva, Calendula ointment and children's benadryl.
Missy's doing a lot better. Scrathcing and rubbing her ears on the carpet is way down. She still does it but not very often Don't know if this is just normal scratching or still because of the irritation. I'm still nervous because she's almost back to her normal self but not quite. She's eating, but not as much as usual. She's still as energetic as ever though!! :) I've been using the coconut oil on her belly and the belly scratching is almost gone! Where she drew blood is drying up. Her ears are not pink at all until she scratches or rubs them! :( And then they stay pink for soooo long. I will try the Celendula on her ears today and see if that helps.
Again, thank you all for your help! I seriously don't know what I would do without you all and YT. Sometimes you just need more than what your Vet tells you, ya know?

I would not put calendula on the ears it is for burns only - you can use the coconut oil as some use this for an ear cleaner but put a little on cotton ball and gently wipe the ears - i think she might have an ear infection so if it continues have them swab the ears and check for yeast or bacteria infection - the benedryl will not help for an infection- it will only help from an allergic reaction to combat the histamine release in the body

what happens is they itch which releases the histamines so the more they itch the worse it gets like when you scratch a mosquito bite the more you itch the more itchy it gets same effect so i have to hold dd walk her in my arms get her to calm down when she gets an itchy attack or have her lay on my lap until she calms down and that helps alot
