Good wishes Good wishes for a speedy and uneventful recovery. You will find this little scrawny chicken leg when the bandages come off. My little Grand-dog-der looked so embarassed of her skinny little leg. She just had a tuft of hair left on her foot and then the long coat from above which was pulled up out of the way. She had a very extensive surgery as well and is healing up great. She is now in the process of slowly regaining muscle on that leg to help keep it stable. Frequent short walks now. When she was first home she was carried in a baby sling cause she wanted to be with her Mommy all the time. Then she progressed to being in a baby playpen and now finally the walks. Yea! |
Thank you for the warning when the bandages are removed. I'm waiting for a call from the vet this morning. He wasn't in yet to give her a look over, but the receptionist said her bedding is being changed and she seemed in good spirits. They haven't tried feeding her breakfast yet, though. She isn't a morning dog. I'm hoping she eats, but if she doesn't, I wouldn't be surprised. She usually gets around to eating around noon. |
Glad to hear that things went well yesterday for Kirby. It will keep getting better once you have Kirby home and in your arms :) |
Sorry to not have posted sooner. I just feel so bad for Sydney. She is home and doing okay. I will post a picture soon of her recovery. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. |

1 Attachment(s) Sydney is such a brave, little girl. With the bandages, she can't bend her knees, but she still managers to make her way around and use her litter box. I do carry her for the most part, but she's working hard to overcome her challenging recovery. She's on four different medicines, including Glucosamine in the form of Glyco-Flex chews. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. We do appreciate it. |
Awww bless her sweet little heart. She has been through a lot, but she has a very bright eye about her in the picture. She is so pretty. |

My Gracie had both knees done at the same time, at about the same age. She has had a great outcome. It was a long road with recovery and rehab so you will need to plan for that. Looking back I think it was probably a lot harder on me than it was on her. I posted several threads about my experiences. My Holly needs surgery on her left patella, as soon as I can afford it I will have it done. |

Hi Sonya!!!! Awwwwww, Sydney looks in great spirits in the picture you posted!!!! I know how hard this is, but sounds like Syndey wants to use her legs which is a GREAT sign!!! I'm so happy she is home with you and now the healing can begin!!! Snick didn't have his bandages left on so he could bend his knee and attempt to walk normally. Start slow, and she will figure it out. In a week or 2 she will think she is all better and try to move alot, this is when it gets hard, you will have to contain her. We used a small human baby playpen with mesh sides, b/c I can't stand cages. Snick's playpen was 3x3 so it was perfect. Let me know if you have any questions...we are all here for you!!! LOVE!!!!! Thank you so much for the well wishes. Syd is adjusting very well. She knows to look at me with her little puppy eyes when she wants a lift, but for the most part, she's walking around with two stiff back legs. The vet's office called yesterday to check on her. Syd's bandages will be removed a week from Monday. I am a bit nervous about how it's going to look. And knowing Syd, it will be difficult to keep her still. She has a crate, a 6' x 8' playpen, and a cone collar. Hopefully this will keep her in check. Vivian--Oh my goodness. You are so sweet. I hope you and your husband have a great time. |
Glad to hear Sydney is in good spirits. :) Like Viv said, once she starts to feeling better, she's going to want to start doing a lot more, just be very careful in how much she moves around, you don't want her to try to much too soon and injure herself. Take a look at my collars in my signature block, the kiss-e collars are so much more comfortable than those darn plastic things. :) Give Sydney kisses and and gentle hugs. :) |

Oh wow. I wish I would have known about the softee collar before I got one from the vet's office. Nobody's fault but my own for not researching. I've had to use the plastic cone on her a couple of times because she started chewing on the bandages. She doesn't look very happy in it. I don't blame her. I would be claustrophobic. |
