Thank you, MegansMomma. It's reassuring to see your words. I love her dearly. It's amazing how quickly they capture our hearts. |
I dropped Sydney off this morning at the vet's office. The nurse was very kind, realizing how nervous I was about the surgery. She told me they did a poodle mix about the same size as Syd and the poodle trotted out of the office as if nothing was wrong. The nurse said little dogs do better with this type of surgery than big dogs. And her age (9-months) give her a better chance of a faster recovery. With that said, I'm a nervous wreck. I can call at 2 ET to see how things are going. She will more than likely spend the night at the vet's office. Please keep Sydney in your prayers. Thank you. |

Just catching. Wanted to wish you and Sydney all the best through her sugery today. I am sure you are waiting by the phone. Hugs. I would agree with Ladymom, not all supplements are created equal. Please talk with your vet and make sure that you get a good quality brand of supplement. One of the vets at our practice started Hot Rod on Dasuquin. The best way to describe it cosequin plus. He's been on it or just over a month now and I can see improvement. I have just started Maggie May on it as we just found out she has grade 2 in her knee! she as never shown any signs of any pain or anything. We were shocked. At any rate, she will now be taking that. :) Please let us know how Sydney does. I am can't say that I would let my baby walk out of the vets office, but for sure please follow the vets instructions. As was suggested to me by another YT member--As much as you would like to make your Sydney comfortable, please do not put a bunch of blankets or pillows in with her as she can get caught in them and twist her knee the wrong way. Also, make sure that she doesn't have to walk across slippery floors as she can wipe out on them. I bought an area rug so Hot Rod could stand on while eating. Please feel free to pm with with any questions that you may have. Hugs! Bo |
Thank you, Mom to Hot Rod. I will probably be asking several questions. That is very kind of you to offer information. Unfortunately, the doctor had an unusual amount of emergencies today, including an amputation. Needless to say, the doctor just called and asked that I pick up Sydney and bring her back Wednesday morning. He said he felt terrible and I could tell that he was upset about it. When I called at 2 to check, the nurse then said another woman had called and cussed her out for not getting her dog's spaying done. Well, if it were my dog with an emergency, I would hope they would take my dog over a spaying or even knee surgery. I don't like it, but the doctor is very dedicated and I appreciate that about him. So, we're off to get Syd now and then we'll be bringing her back Wednesday morning at 8 ET. Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes. We still need them. Sincerely, Sonya |
Hi Sonya... I'll be thinking of you both tomorrow morning with you take Syndey for her LP surgery. Oh, it was so hard for me when that time came for Snick and I but I want to assure you, all will be GREAT afterward!! BIG BIG BIG Hugs from Snick & Viv |
Thank you, Vivian. I appreciate the words of encouragement. They really do help. I'm looking forward to Thursday when she can come home. |
Sydney is back at the vet's office. I hope to hear something yet this morning. Thank you for your prayers. Syd and Mom need them. :) |
Good News The vet just called. He said everything went well with the surgery. He said after looking at her knees internally, they were very bad. She now has pins and wires in her knees. The doctor also said she's resting comfortably with her head on her toy I packed. She should be able to come home tomorrow afternoon. I asked about seeing her today, and he said that she might become too excited then depressed when I left. I think this will be harder on me than on her. |

It is harder on us that it is them although it is very hard to see you little one all bandaged up. Best of luck tomorrow when you pick Sydney up. I know that you will holding your breath until them. Hugs to you. :) |
Thank you very much, everyone. The prayers are working. I agree...it isn't over until she's in my arms (and has forgiven me). Thank you again for the valuable information and helping me form my decision about having the surgery done. |
Poor little thing! Hope all goes well from here on out and she is home and happy and running around on all 4's soon! :) |
