I do want to wish you all the luck in the world on the surgury. I know Pixie will do just fine. Maybe you are having the Plastic ball put in as a replacement? I had nothing put in and the scar tissue and muscle grow in for the ball. I know it was $3000 for that surgury. That could be why, I had only put the price in because I had no idea when I was looking of the cost. Pixie will be running around as soon as you know it.:animal-pa |
Pixie's out of surgery.. It went well! The surgeon said that it was good that we ended up doing it now rather than latter as the cartalidge was not attached. There was no wayof seeing that on the x-rays. They didnt replace the bonewith anything. |

Well, I went in to talk to the vet this afternoon and he said that Pixie was doing very good. YAYY. The cost of the surgery was sooo much cheaper than expected too... it was $1400! Very happy about that. They even did another x-ray before surgery and didnt charge me for that. I've got an awesome vet. They would not have anyone at the clinic overnight so I will be going to get Pixie at 7:30 tonight and bringing her back into the office first thing in the morning. I didnt feel comfortable enough leaving her overnight by herself and only having someone come in and check on her twice during the night. I did this same thing after she got spaide and everything went smoothly. Hopefully it is the same way tonight. Dont think that ill get much sleep but knowing that im with her is all worth it. The dr said that she has the Morphine patch on and will not need to take meds anymore. Is this the same for you who had your furbabies go through this? I've also made a call in to the physiotherapy office too. I'm going to take her in at least 2-3 times per week. What did you all do in regards to therapy? |

As for physical therapy, my pupster who had both hips done at one time did not need it and recovered well. I am a firm believer in PT if needed....and would speak with the vet about whether it is indeed necessary. Of course, it certainly cannot hurt! The vet told me that she would definetly need therapy as the atrophy is really bad. Most of her muscle is gone. I'm waiting to hear back from the therapy centre about making an apointment for an assessment on Pixie. I really hope that she will not have to go to the centre too much as I dont drive and it is in another part of the city. I'm hoping that she only needs to go in 2 times a week and that I can be trained on exercises to do with her at home. |

Pixie did very good last night. I'm soo happy that I did take her home with me as I feel she wanted to be comforted by me. She did wake up a few times and moaned but when I cuddled with her she stopped. She even ate a little at around midnight. Taking her back to the vet for a check-up in about 2 hours. |

Just got back from the vets and Pixie is doing great!! Everything looks good too! |

The vet called to see how Pixie was doing and was very impressed at what I had told him that he said if she wanted to walk around I should let her. Wow..... I didn't expect her to be doing as well as she has been! She cannot jump or go on stairs yet though. I think I'm going to limit her walking though....I don't want her to over do it. |
