Chloe... Sorry for the duplicate post - I don't see a way to delete one. Now I know if you post a link...it has to be approved first. Just a quick update re: groomer He called Chloe's mom tonight, and now it's Chloe's fault, Chloe got too close to the dryer...and mom needs to cap the $ he pays her and put it in writing. 1st it couldn't have happened at his facility (altho he did disconnect the wire to heating element), 2nd, it has to be a chemical burn (mom did it), 3rd, Chloe got too close to dryer. |
What a jerk! But I can tell you that no judge is going to let the dog take the blame, for crying out loud, you need to report him to the attorney generals office. Trust me, they can get things done with 1 letter and it cost you nothing. |

2nd - the groomer backpeddling  I wondered if the groomer would continue to be upset and see now he's been talking to a lawyer no doubt. How the heck can they turn the blame on the dog when she came home from THEIR Facility that uses those dryers ? I'll stop here and hope this gets resolved - they don't need the expense on top of what they're going thru I really am glad to read she's improving and wish you all the best. |
I can hardly believe my eyes. How very terrible. How the heck could something like THAT happen from a danged blow dryer? I just can't figure that out. Do those dryers blow from underneath?? I just hope all turns out well for the little one. And sure hope the groomer pays the bills! |

Chloe was confined in the cage. If she got to hot she knew where the door was and was probably yelping or barking for someone to let her out. Or, if she's like my little boy, shy and scared of everything, she probably laid back trying to get away from the heat, exposing their very sensitive belly. Either way, the vet will be able to help you if this ever goes to court. Little Chloe has been receiving yorkie prayers from me and Kaji, and I will continue to do so. Hope she gets better and that groomer realizes he's being an ass. |
Sending Prayers I don't post often because generally I have nothing to offer to the posts, but I have to post to tell you that I am praying for Chloe and her mom. What a wonderful friend you are to help her handle this crisis! I'm afraid that I too would need a friend like you if this was my girl because I'm quite sure I would be in jail! I have a great deal of respect for someone who can handle this situation better than I would be able to. Thank you for keeping us updated, I know this is stressful for all of you. I will continue my prayers for Chloe. Hugs from me and my "crew" |
Thank you.... Thanks everyone for your replies - This is has taught me much patience...because I, as others have said, would probably be calling someone to bail me out. I have told Chloe's mom how fortunate this groomer is that it wasn't my dog or someone else's...as many people at work (we are also co-workers) have told her the same...I can't write what they've said. But, I am tiptoeing around...and trying to help in a civilized way - but my next suggestion is to tell the groomer that the internet is a very powerful tool. |
First off I want to say that guy is full of BS. Your dog is not the first dog nor the only dog this has happened too. When I used to work at a vets office A guy brought his cocker in and that dogs chest was one huge burn I mean his chest was literally burned off from the dryer at the groomer. The diff is the groomer took the blame and her dryers were NOT the heated kind. The dryer went out and when they go out they heat up. So really it wasn't even her fault as she had never had this happen before, she had only been open for a few months and it was her first shop. She told me she had heard horror stories of this happening so she deliberately stayed away from the heated kind so this wouldn't happen. So it's actually the fault of the company that makes the dryers. However she called us before the guy brought the dog in to tell us to bill her for any and all treatment caused by this burn. I mean this poor groomer was devastated about this and told me she had already contacted the company she bought the dryers from. So in your case that groomer needs to be paying all vet costs. It is what it is. The dog was left in the care of the groomer and it was the neglect of the groomer for not checking on the dog. Very simple, put your hand in front of the dryer and on the dog every few minutes while the dog is drying so you can feel how hot both are . Or better yet only use hand dryers and problem solved. While using a hand dryer you rub your hand back and forth on the dog so you can feel if it's getting too hot in one spot. Also when that cocker came it was shortly after I started working for that vet, and he had been there for like 17 yes. He told me that he gets one of those burns about once a year from the grooming dryers. So please all of you who take your babies to the groomers, Tell them you want your babies hand dried. And FYI for all of you who use Petco grooming, tell them you want the grate removed from your babies cage. I was told after my babies foot was broken that those grated are the # 1 cause of injury to pets in the grooming dept. My groomer has been trying to get the company to remove them since she's been there . So she said if I insist they remove it then they have too. |

Pat, thanks for the update. I am so glad that Chloe has a wonderful and dedicated vet. It is a true answer to Yorkie Prayer that she is healing so well. We continue to send Healing Yorkie Prayers for Chloe's continued healing and return to health. |

This new excuse saying she got too close to the dryer ? What BS ! that's STILL his responsibility..... any dog in a cage is at the mercy of whoever is in charge ! What a stupid thing to say and hopefully a judge will see right thru all his new excuses if it comes to that. I remember (years ago) bringing my Chanel back from a groomer who had great reviews - when she cried in the car while I was holding her at a light - I was livid and called them right away pissed. I knew they'd been too rough with her. I know first hand she was an angel at groomers - there was no excuse for them hurting her and their attitude just sucked. Granted - it was nothing compared to this....but I've never been back to a groomer since. I'd rather than see mine with a bad haircut than take them to a stranger and have something bad happen. Poor little Chloe - I'm so glad her pain seems to be under control for the most part and she's acting better each day but still - this isn't over.... I know she has a long way to go poor baby and will be praying no infection sets in. The vet seems to be very good and in time - she will be back to normal... All the best and please keep the updates coming. You're helping others and also - we do care. This could have happened to anyone but thanks to you guys - maybe people who didn't know about these dryers (or any dryer) will be aware of the dangers. |
