Sorry I have not experienced this. I just want to say that I will keep you and your baby in my thoughts. :) |
I'm so sorry you and your baby are going through this. No experience with this myself but every dog I've seen with an amputation didn't seem to be a ware that they were missing a leg, got around as well as a dog with four. I did find this article that looked like it had a lot of good information on aftercare. Good luck to you both. How to Care for a Dog After Amputation Surgery |
Thank you so much .I cry For 2 days day and night. I'm not thinking right. I didn't think about google . Thank for the link. |

You both are in my prayers!!! Let us know how the surgery goes and keep us informed of your babies progress!! |
Our prayers for your Baby and you. I had a beagle once who lost a hind leg. Up and back on the rabbit trail in no time, never acted like he noticed. Been a long time and I still miss that old hound. All the best, please keep us posted. |

Your Little Furbaby will be just fine..... Quote:
Your vet will inform you about care of your little furbaby. I know you feel bad right now but things will work out. My father years ago brought home a collie that only had three legs. He had been hit by a car. Glaze didn't even know he only had three legs. You'll be surprised on how well your furbaby will adjust. Pet's are amazing and they don't really realize if they are handicapped. I'll keep you and your little furbaby in my prayers for a successful surgery and recovery. Kathleen |
My little Chase had his left foreleg amputated last May. If you want to talk, PM me and leave your phone # or else I could give you mine. It is traumatic, both for your baby and for you , but you will both adapt. Best wishes and prayers for a successful surgery. Jim |
I am so sorry for what you are going through, I can only imagine what you are feeling :( My thoughts and prayers are with you both! |
So sorry to hear this news. I use to be a vet tech (before kids...) I can assure you that things will turn out just fine. They can live perfectly happy lives with only 3 legs. Best Wishes. |
I am very sorry you are going through this. I had a Min Pin that at 10 months old got hit by a car. It broke her hip terribly and left her with nerve damage to her back legs. One was much worse than the other. Because she was still able to walk on it the vet recommended leaving it, but the tip turned under. So, she walked on the top side of her back foot. People were disgusted to see it deformed like that, and if she ever broke open the callouse that had formed for padding, it would have required amputation. We recently had to put her to sleep due to complications from that injury. She was only 10. Looking back, I do wish they would have amputated that leg right from the get go. Her quality of life would have been so much better and she would have delt with less pain over the years. Hugs! |

I'm assuming this is TicTac since you said "his leg". How is he doing and how did he break it? Please let me know how he's doing. Thanks. |
I'm so sorry your baby and you are going through this. I'm sure he will be fine. I met a lady with a Yorkie who had three legs and he looked like he didn't even know one of his legs was missing. He scampered around like crazy. He was accidently run over by a car. PLease let us know how he is doing. |
