a dog that cannot get comfortable is in pain and this is a big sign of pancreatitis take the dog in asap to vet as my dog acted like this with pancreatitis

this sounds like pancreatitis to me :( it is very painful and they can die from it very serious - i hope everything is ok - the no vomitting or no diarhea does not fit the bill though so maybe it is some sort of blockage or something or constipation since has not gone in days that is a bad sign so have xray and blood work done for sure

Well, I just got back from the Vet. He felt all over her stomach and looked her over real well and said her stomach felt slightly distended but not much.

He attributed it to the Alpo and gas. He said sometimes small dogs get especially painful gas and that her scampering from one spot to another is something they do often; dogs don't know what to do when they get gas and so they try to run away from it.

He felt she would be fine later today and told me to give her 1/4 tsp Mylanta and to call him tomorrow if she is not better.

She seemed a bit better while at the Vet office; she was walking normally and sniffing all around.

We are home now and I gave her the Mylanta. She seems to be resting comfortably in her crate (with her new toy of course). She still has no interest in playing but I know the vet visit wore her out.

Anyway, she scared me half to death and I'm sorry if I scared everyone here half to death.

I hope the Vet is right. But that was awfully dramatic for Gas! Lucy is somewhat of a princess drama queen I must confess.

I will keep a close eye on her today and from now on, it's nothing but TOTW for her!

Be very careful now about what you feed her. They don't tolerate diet changes well. And, toss the Alpo! :D

Well, personally I can relate to stressing about our little ones... but thank goodness it is 'just' gas. I say that lightly because I don't know about everyone, but sometimes little things like gas can be VERY painful.

Hope Lucy is back to her normal self soon and that you can now breathe easier!

I'm so relieved you got good news at the vet!! :) And please, don't apologize. Every one of us has had some sort of scare with our babies and it's nice to know that we can come to YT for support. Believe me, we all understand. Give Lucy extra hugs from us!

That is great news, Im so happy she is okay, I will tell you what my vet recommended to me!! Laci only had a slight case of pancreatitis, displayed the same symptoms as you are describing, she told me for 7 days do small servings of boiled chicken and rice.. nothing else, no treats, no veggies, just the boiled chicken and rice.. It really did seem to help, I did it for longer and then slowly added her kibble back in , but it did allow her belly and pancreais to heal and feel better... similar to kids :););)

I might give the chicken and boiled rice a try. She still seems to be in a lot of pain and justs wants to be held. She will stand by herself in a corner and whine and I will go pick her up and hold her. She will then settle and calm down and sleep.

I am calling the Vet back tomorrow if she is no better.

Now if I just had some chicken right now. She ate a little bit of her kibble and drank some water. I gave her another dose of the Mylanta; he said to give her two. We will see.

I'm still worried about her; she is not herself. She is not playful or happy or quietly resting.

Believe me, my family could care less. (Except my son). So I'm glad I have YT to turn to!

You may want to try a nice warm bath, it may relieve some of the gas and help her to poop if she is a little bit constipated!!

do you have a whole foods near you? if so go get the organic canned pumpkin and give her a little of that and also try to take her on a walk around your street every hour as that will get it moving. My demi did not poop for a couple days after anesthesia for dental and i did this and it worked like a charm and she had the largest poop ever. I prefer natural than meds and the pumpkin works really well but the little walks help as she gets to moving and excited about being outside and it gets the digestive flow going

white rice stops them up so you may want to try some brown rice as that is fiber and went right through my girl so it may push it out faster as well as you need fiber to get her moving
