Not to sound too off the wall, but it is... I would be curious to see if HBOT would work to help Lola. (Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy) They use them in small animal medicine, and they are normally used in treating wounds, bacterial infections... didn't say about fungus... but it can enhance the bodies immune system and make medicines work better. Also, pressure and higher oxygen levels may be detrimental to the fungi. I think it may be worth asking your vets about, as it is non-invasive, and portable units are in existance.... |

[QUOTE=dwerten;2982951]i have that one too and it works great but hard for them to drink or eat with it and not as comfortable when sleeping but if you do decide to get it get the small as xs will be too small as dd is about 7lbs and 8" neck - with her allergies i have tried them all :([/QUOTE I used them when my girls were spayed....neither one had problems with eating or sleeping. Not sure on the sizing for Lola since she has no muscle mass.... |
Lissette, here's a collar you may be interested in. Not sure if the small would be small enough, though. There's a phone # at the bottom of the page. You could call and ask about the fit. Bite Not Collars, Dog Health Aids |

First of all, I just want to thank all of Lola's Yorkie Talk Angels. Everyone of you are the kindest sweetest folks around. Thank You!!!!! She is doing much better. Her bum is totally healed, she is holding her BMs for 8 hours!!! They are still runny but gaining consistancy, and no blood. Her Albumin is 2.4 and she is starting to eat like a ravashing piglett. I am still feeding single food sources like ground turkey and white rice 3 to 4 times a day. She is munching on food in the middle of the night. She got a b12 shot today and will be getting more blood taken on Friday and the 2 week antibiotic shot, Convenia shot. She will continue the Flouconazole for the next 6 months as well as her other treatments should start the following monday as long as everything is funtioning. Just want to send out blessing to everyone who has been there for us. Thank you.........:aimeeyork.Lissette:aimeeyork |

Hi, I am concerned for My poor Pooh Bear almost died from improper care when she was first ill. Please check for Pancreatitis. There is other meds besides pred for helping your little one. Budesanide usually mixed by lab chemist and mailed to you. It is a type of pred that is not as hard on the system. Other meds can be used depending on diagnosis. Please go to another vet if little one is not responding well to treatment. Ask around and an internist specialist may be the answer. That is where we found proper help. |
We have held both Lola and you, Lissette, in our thoughts and prayers since this all became known to us. It is so good to hear a bit of good news and while I recognize the road is long, it sounds like you have done everything right. Please know that we will continue to hold you both in our prayers. Huggs |
Hello everyone, Lola is doing well one day and not so good other days. It will take about 6 months to kill the Histo. One day she has more consistancy in her stool the next day it has a sick bleach smell and is watery. She goes in for blood work on Friday. I will post her results. One good thing is that she loves to eat. |

1 Attachment(s) Its seems like forever since I have given you an update on Lola. Here we are in February and she is still alive and doing better than ever. She is gaining weight, eating well her blood levels are normal and her albumin is UP and climbing 2.6. According to her first specialist this disease was a death sentense. The specialist we have now has been not only treating the fungus but treating her symtoms and is working together with a gastro specialist at A&M on a weekly basis for the best treatment plan. Lola is striving and is the most incredible fighter. They sent her urine off for a specific testing of Histoplasmosis. The lowest being .10 to 4.0, moderate 4.0 to 15.0 and high 15 to 40. Lola is a 9. Their treatment is working! She still goes in once a week for B12 shot and every other week for Convenia shot as well as every day Fluconanzle Metro and Mirtazamine(I love this drug) she is eating and no Nauseous. This will continue for the next 5 months or longer, but we are on the road to recovery. Attachment 308910 |
