I so HOPE both of your babies get better!!! I am just seeing this and hate it when our little ones don't feel good!!! Keep us posted on their progress!!!

No, Zoey has not received a diagnosis of pancreatitis, I am just trying to be proactive and was curious about its possible implications is all. I am confident you have researched it and was curious what you had found.

my dex has high triglycerides on a 12 hr fast blood draw so that is one sign that they have high fat content in blood so i do not do anything with him never will. My dd tolerated coconut oil for almost two years and someone scared me about it and red blood cell count but now wishing i stuck with it after dealing with the staph and diarrhea issues :( it along with probiotics was working and dermatologist was impressed as she looked so good - i could kick myself

I can appreciate what you are saying. While we want to find the right combination that works well for our little ones, we recognize that each one is different. Furthermore, with known problem areas with the breed, we try to take extra precautions but maybe we 'read' too much into every thing. At least I know that I have tendencies to do so.

Thanks again for everyone's support, thoughts and well wishes.

I wish I had spent the extra $15 for the 'human' probiotics to be shipped quickly. I only see a slight improvement in Zoey's stool with her current antibiotic and probiotics... but still far too loose. :(

I am praying still, that it just takes awhile to kill all of them nasty bacteria!

we are on day 5 with the dds plus no diarhea but i am doubling it up and mixing it in pumpkin so fingers crossed your baby will be better soon

Still no DDS but I did regular shipping and it is Sunday or the wee hours of Monday morning :rolleyes:. May try to find it locally later but now I am doubting myself on purchasing the right one.

Oooops, sorry - forgot to give an update.

Poop is still loose - medium brown in color. Her poop use to be firm if not on the hard side and dark brown - almost black in color before all of this started.

She slept alot more than normal today and wanted to be close to me. Being close isn't unusual but she generally wants to play the majority of the time - but not the case today. It could just be the weather or that DH hit the road today, but it makes me nervous with this going on for so long now. :(

Will be calling the vet in the morning to update him and get some feedback.

Also I should add that I really had to coax her to eat this morning (and it had chicken in it :eek:).

And ditto this evening - she only ate half her meal :thumbdown

Positive side.... she readily takes the bits of chicken as reward for good pottying :rolleyes:.

lool at the bottom left hand corner of the bottle it says non-dairy and that is exactly what i use - you can get it from whole foods or vitamine shoppe or lassens - keep it in the fridge when you open it

Okay, call me crazy (won't be the first time nor the last ;)) but....

How sick can Zoey really be when she is putting on sooooo much weight??!! :rolleyes:

She weighed in right before spay surgery at 4 lbs 15 oz. Now 24 days later and sick.... she weighs 5 lbs 10 oz.

Doesn't that sound like alot to you??? Or is it like humans and changes hormones and thus weight gain? :confused:

Okay, I spoke to our vet.

He wants me to get her off the chicken that she is on. She was put on it along with rice when this all started. We took her off of the rice when we got the Clostridium diagnosis and added in her kibble. We kept alot of the chicken to encourage her to continue eating well. He wants her on kibble and then her treats are okay - thank goodness, as I feel she is NOT gonna like being taken off her meat. He said he is not concerned about her and that it is taking a little time is not concerning him either. Wish I could be so calm about it :rolleyes:

Her poop a few minutes ago was a bit firmer, with one tiny bit at the end that was still very soft. I am hoping this is a good sign and will just continue on. He said her weight gain and all of her checkups etc etc are excellent.

Okay, so I will try to take this in stride and hopefully she will eat (just kibble) and will get firmer as time continues.

Maybe there is 'light at the end of the tunnel?' Know how frustrating it is to not find quick solutions. Snowboy, my 2 yr. old Pommie, has had loose stools from the time I rescued him. Have struggled with food issues....allergic to grains. Then he eats finds of horrible stuff to eat in our tiny outdoor pen.:eek: Gives himself all sorts of intestinal issues. Think I'll start him on the probiotic that Cocoa is on......Primal Defense. Get well to Zoey. ~Joanne~

Thank you for the positive thoughts and understanding ;). Poor Snowboy... it seems that intestinal issues run common for our little ones so I may just have to accept it (while staying on top of it of course).

I, too, will be starting the probiotics (human grade) when I receive them. She is on the one prescribed by the vet right now. I discussed it with him and while he said he did not have another yorkie on that type of regiment, he was not opposed.

I hope it does well for them both - Thanks again, Joanne!

I'm so sorry for not posting more often about Zoey. These surgeries can be a little rough on our little one's and sometimes it just takes a while for them to be 100%

Denise, Zoey is just as important as any of our furbys. I'll be trying to keep up with your updates and pray the little one improves everyday and everyone stays well.

This HGE appears to be treatable with good prognosis IF treated early - otherwise, can be serious and even fatal :eek: Thank goodness Zoey does not have this, but is important info to be aware of - just in case, especially since she has had this bacteria infection.

Be watchful of her with the Metronidazole. That stuff is really hard on their little tummies.

Thank you for letting me know.... she has two more doses (1/2 a chewable pill every 12 hours) so we are almost done. Is good to have the input tho - thanks again!!

Lady's had it three times. :eek:

The key is to run to your vet asap as it can be fatal within hours. Terrifying disease.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that - I hope Lady is well now! Did she primarily have the 'raspberry jam' looking stools? Did she begin with bacteria infections like Zoey?

Yes, it does appear terrifying - I am so sorry you both have had to go thru this and not just once but 3 times :(

It is because if they get it once they are more susceptible to getting it over and over again if out of balance in gut and why probiotics are very important to keep healthy digestive system
