This why antibiotics are tricky as it can be a double edge sword for a dog with a suppressed immune system like dogs with allergies like dd has as you try to suppress the immune system as it is hyperactive with allergies then you open the door for bacterial issues as the immune system cannot fight off bad bacterias as it is suppressed this is why she is such a difficult case and she has hypothyroid as well which is an auto immune disease so she is on drugs for her thyroid - NOW YA KNOW MY NIGHTMARE :( oh and throw in the mvd liver issue so she cannot process meds well you have a double whamy | I realize all of this. I have a pup who is on Temeril-P for allergies. Allergy injections made him worse, so I stuck with the Temeril-P. He has been on it for four years now.
He has had antibiotics many times for skin infections .. staph which is very common for them to get. It is not the same staph that people get and easily clears up with an antibiotic.
He does not have MVD. But, I have no problems with antibiotics and he has never gotten diarrhea except for a couple of bouts of pancreatitis. |
