the vet even told me that the hospital is the best place to be if this is what is wrong.. the only other place that has the resources is ga vet specialists but they want a appt/referral and cost out the yahoo. i will call them but the hospital is her best bet and already has her information.

i just spoke to the ga vet specialists and they do not have a neuro guy on call this weekend to do the xray. it would be monday before she would be seen even though its a emergency. or to do the xray. so here we are.. she is quiet and resting right here by me.. i am calmer with her beside me so i think we both are in better spirits being together even though she is so sick. we will take a nap and see how she is when we wake up. i need to get her to athens.. that is the best place for her.

How far is Athens from you? Can you get a ride from someone next week?

i checked the area for all neurosurgeons and there is only one in the whole state i posted and then the university i posted has a whole staff so please take her to the link i sent i think that is athens as they have a staff and i believe they are there on the weekend

i do not have a way to athens. my vet is willing to take the xray on monday but that is 2 days away and even though she is responding a little bit to the steriods she still is stiff and yelps when moved.. not always but still she does. she does calm down when i talk to her. i have my baby in my arms so i do not feel so empty. i can do 1 of 2 things..

1. wait until monday to get her doctor here to do the xray.. he didnt have the staff to do it today and he has never treated this aai before.. he is calling in a referrel to the hospital in case i can get her there so they will be expecting me.

2. find a ride to athens and hit the road asap. but my car is not is good shape.. tires, oil change, and generally the car is not safe to go on that type of road trip.
i do not have the funds to rent a car either. sooo.. we are going to rest quietly for now and try to figure out what to do. any suggestions would be great!

she does know me much better today. all she wants is for me to hold her and she is calm in my arms. god i love this baby.
How much is a rental car? I am also going to check with a member on here who lives in georgia to see if she can help brb- you may want to post a thread saying any Georgia members here as someone may help you get a ride - she needs to get to this place and I do not trust the vet anymore as this should have been done during the week this xray should have been one of the first things done :(

yes but i need a ride to athens... i need to go today or tomorrow otherwise i will have to take her back to her vet here and he can do the xray but he has already told me that he cannot do the surgery. he is also a bit nervous doing the xray since someone has to hold roriee down to get a good picture of the neck. he now understands about moving the neck around at all as fragile as she is.

I would not let this vet do the xray I would get her to university and leave her there until they get to the bottom of what is going on

a rental car i would think would be real cheap $19 or so let us know and if anyone knows how to get a cheap rental car that would be great

why don't you call the university and see if they have a way to transport maybe some college student can come get her and take her in as I cannot imagine you are that far away i think you said an hour. If you lived near me i would do it in a heart beat but i live in california :( Only know one person in Rossville, GA and just pm her

there are yorkie transport groups for rescues on my yahoo groups so what city do you live in and I will see what i can find out but i have to go to work :( but i need the city you live in and i will see if someone can help transport her to the university

maybe check the rescue groups on this site to see if there is one in georgia that can help transport you to the university

another suggestion go to Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder and go to rescue in georgia and see if there is one near you that can help you out as i am sure they would be happy to do so

i live in marietta ga.. its north of atlanta right off i75. roriee just had a episode.. she had to go pee so she went all over in her bed and i had to wash her off.. she yelped and tried to move but just cant.. she doesnt want to sleep in her bed but in my arms.. she is frantic to get in my lap but i am afraid to lay down with her this way.. i think she is safer in the bed but she is not happy there at all.

do what makes her happy so is that near rossville can you mapquest it - i have to leave now for work :( sorry

Not sure if this would help, but Olga with Retro Doggy Rescue has an AAI baby right now, she is 2 lbs and is just a baby. Anyway, she has made a temp neck brace with belly bands (I think), check it out:

Maybe you can contact her (she is very, very, very nice) and get some advice on how to care for your baby until things can get figured out :(
