Growth on Testicle? warning, graphic pic 2 Attachment(s) Please don't kill me..yes, I am posting again. Seems like one thing after another! I have been posting a lot regarding Moose's LP and yucky tick problem. :( Here\'s something else to add.. Today when I picked up Moose and held him like normal, I thought I felt something strange around his testicle area. I tricked him into a belly rub and took some pictures of what looks like a dark colored growth on his testicles. It doesn\'t seem to bother him when touched. I could be totally paranoid :confused:but thought I\'d ask your opinion of the pictures. You should be able to see what I\'m talking about because the pictures are very close up. They are graphic! Look normal or strange? I don\'t have anything to compare by. Thanks!! Attachment 294432 Attachment 294433 |
I would definitely have that checked by a vet. It does not look normal to me. |
i agree, it doesn't look normal and would have it checked by the vet to be sure. how old is Moose? |
He is a year and half. Moose has severe LP in his right hind leg and is going for a surgery consulation on Monday. He is also having an extremely difficult problem with ticks right now as I posted before. I will definitely take him to the vet to have this checked out. That's where wev'e been spending most of our time lately! : ( Another important thing I forgot to include..he has never been neutered.... |

I dont think so.. I looked at it very closely with a flashlight and the dark spots are part of the actual testicle, they move a little when you touch them. But there isn't any sensitivity to touch. Could this be from not having him neutered? I have no specific reason not to neuter Moose, just that the quote from our vet was very high ($700) and I wanted to be able to pay for his much needed LP surgery first. |
hmmm...I would have that checked out... Can they neuter him when he gets LP surgery? |
I assumed the surgeon would want to neuter him during the LP surgery, just want to keep the risk of harm to Moose as low as possible. It wouldn't make sense for him to have 2 different surgeries of course, but just hate to give him a huge double whammy surgery! It's LP in both hind legs. Maybe the surgeon can look at the testicles on monday. |
Someone else was having LP surgery and the vet didn't want to do the neutering surgery at the same time, I think he was a specialist, and perhaps he thought another type of vet should do that, but I know this has happened to others. There are many low cost spay and neuter clinics, if your sugeon doesn't want to do this, you might want to check into that. Spay/Neuter Florida Best of luck, I hope it's nothing serious. |
Looks like bruising and some subsequent swelling to me (hematoma). I'd have a vet check it out. Poor guy! |
$700.00!!! for neutering? Wow that's steep. I hate to ask what the LP surgery is costing. I live in CA and my vet is only charging around $250.00 and that includes four teeth being pulled. Maybe I should check around at the costs. Perhaps I should be concerned if others charge a lot more. When I was in Texas visiting, I had to take him in and they quoted a high end of around $400. and low end of $200. It depended on what all needed to be done and just the necessary things. But I am getting a lot done here and now I am going to check into this further. Yes, I would agree this does not look normal. Sometimes Yorkies have blackish bellies and it goes away. Haven't heard about it on testicles. Your vet can tell you if it's normal or what it is and if it is serious, yes, I would have him neutered at the same time. From what I have learned, the neutering is much less harder on him than the LP surgery of course. In neuter's, it's hard to keep the little guys down after a couple days cause the pain must go away. It IS a simple nip and tuck type procedure these days with all the new technology. I wish you and your little guy the best and God's blessings on you both. |
The way that it is raised in the middle almost makes me think it might be a cyst  I hope you are able to get some answers at the vet on Monday. :( |
Thanks for all the help everyone! Sorry, I went back and checked and Moose's neutering was quoted at $535 not $700 as I said before. I believe the extra costs factored in because he needed an ECG Pre-Anesthetic and Pre-Surgical bloodwork. Moose was only 3lbs at the time and they wanted to make sure every precaution was taken to ensure his safety with the anesthetic. He is a pretty sensitive little guy and they were concerned with him possibly being allergic to the anesthetic..which coincidentally will be a big concern with his LP surgery. I will post updates on Monday, thanks again for the info and listening! |
yeah come to think about it, I am sure the Specialist will only want to do the LP surgery, since it's both legs too! Hopefully he can give you some insight on that growth. Also, since you will be having all the pre-blood work done for his LP, your general Vet for the neuter shouldn't have to re-do it. Also, check out: Friends of Animals | Spay/Neuter Certificates Request Put your zipcode in and info in and they will email you a list of Vets in your area that will except there Neuter Coupon ($64 for male dog neuter) |
