Friends of Animals is a great program. Years ago when i volunteered at the animal shelter we would recommend this program to people who adopted puppies and kittens that were too young to be fixed by the shelter. at the time the program was for animals that had been rescued or adopted. i guess its changed since then |
We used the Friends of Animals cert for my brothers pit Lola. You have to make at least a $5.00 donation when you purchase the cert, and of course only certain Vet will take it, and I do believe some Vets will only go up to a certain weight (not an issue with Yorkies though). But Yes it is a Great program! |
I was curious if there would be any vets in my area what accepted this certificate and was very surprised when they sent me a list of 12 animal hospitals in my immediate area! When you add that to the NAWS low cost clinic (which does Pits for $50) and PAWS that my vet particulates with there are so many choices in the Chicago area for reasonable spay/neuter. I just noticed they do Microchipping for $20 too! |
Just checking to see if there was any news on the testicles. |
Oh thank you for reminding me! Got so caught up in the LP discussion that I forgot. I had them looked at today while he was with the nurses and surgeon, Dr. Erne said 1 testicle was a little bigger than the other which could eventually be problematic but otherwise they looked fine. But I do think I will ask his normal vet to get her opinion. You know how your mind plays tricks on you, when you can't remember if something was there before? Especially in that area! So I'll post again when I ask Dr. Deckard. Thanks for asking! And please share opinions if you think that it really is abnormal looking even after he said they were ok! |
Forgot.... He wants to go ahead and neuter during the LP surgery. I actually am not sure about his opinion on the testicles just because he is an orthopedic surgeon and that is not his specialty. So we'll definitely do a second opinion. Should I let them go ahead and neuter before another opinion? |
Well if the Dr says they look OK then I guess I would not worry. Glad they can do both surgeries at once. That will save you some money. The poor little guy is going to fell like he was hit by a truck. good luck to you on everything. |
I know, he will -I'm going to be making this up to him for a long time haha! Thanks for everything, I'll be a posting fool on Thursday! |
Poor little guy....yep you are going to owe him....BIG TIME! Keep us posted on his progress! |
poor little guy! I hope all goes well but that price does seem very steep! |
Ticks Did you get a Lyme shot for him because of the ticks? If not, ask your Vet. about it. My Yorkie got bit by a ticks and got the bullseye rash, so my Vet. gave him a Lyme shot plus antibiotics. |

I have a male Yellow Lab that is not neutered, his testicles look like that every now and then. My vet said it just they way they are resting in the sack and the cool floor can make a difference as well.;) He loves to sleep spread eagle for all to see :p. But they look just like the picture your posted. Tami |
Thanks! Sometimes I start thinking "did that look that way before?" haha. Paranoid mom syndrome! The vet did say that there were normal looking; he was neutered along with his LP surgery last week so they definitely don't look that way right now! Poor guy, 2 hind legs and neutering surgery, I owe him big time. |
